System Requirements

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new AV receiver model. If the version number is 981 or higher, you do not need to update.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input
  2. Turn on the AV Receiver
  3. Press AMP and then HOME on the remote control and wait until the home menu is displayed on the television before proceeding
  4. At the Home menu, highlight Settings then select ENTER using the arrow keys on the remote control
  5. At the Settings menu, highlight System Settings then select ENTER using arrow keys on the remote control
  6. Highlight System Information and select ENTER.
  7. On the TV screen, the firmware version number looks like this:
    "Software Version 981" - if the version number is 981 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Install

What you need:

  • an Ethernet cable to connect your AV Receiver to the internet
  • an active internet connection
  • a compatible TV

How to make sure the update goes smoothly

Updating is usually very simple. Here's how you can make sure it goes right first time:

  • Read the instructions carefully or you could end up damaging your AV Receiver
  • Don't turn the AV Receiver off - or disconnect it from the power - while it's updating
  • Don't press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions

Set up the equipment:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input
  2. Connect the LAN terminal on the AV Receiver to your internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Turn on the AV Receiver.

Get the update:

  1. PressAMP and then HOMEon the remote control and wait until the home menu is displayed on the television before proceeding
  2. At the Home menu, highlight Settings then select ENTERusing the arrow keys on the remote control
  3. At the Settings menu, highlight Network Update then select ENTER using arrow keys on the remote control
  4. The message Perform version update? is displayed on the TV
  5. Select OK using the remote control, and then press ENTER
  6. The download process starts and you see the download screen on the TV
  7. During the download, you see the message "*/9" on the TV. The * changes to 0and goes up to 9 during the download process
  8. After the download is complete, the upgrade starts and Multi Channel Decoding light on the front panel starts blinking
  9. After the upgrade is completed, the AV Receiver will automatically restart. . Don't use or turn off the receiver until the update is complete
  10. Check the firmware version. If the version number is 981, the firmware update was successful

Questions & Answers

What to do if you have problems updating your AV Receiver firmware using the internet.

The message "Connection status cannot be confirmed" shows on the TV.
The problem might be with the network connection.

  1. Check the LAN cable is connected
  2. In the network settings, check you have confirmed whether or not your AV Receiver has its own IP address. (If you use a proxy server, type the IP address of the proxy you use - instead of the proxy host name - into the Proxy Server field.)
  3. Try the update again

The power went off while the update was in progress.
Turn the receiver on and try the update again.

The update process has already taken over 50 minutes and it is still not finished

  1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains, then reconnect it after several minutes
  2. Turn on the AV Receiver
  3. Try the update procedure again.
