    This utility upgrades the SMP-N100 firmware to version M05.R.086, and provides the following benefits:

    • Improves the encryption security

    Benefits provided by previous upgrades and included in version M05.R.086:

    • Adds support for the Party Streaming™ feature
    • Adds support for the Renderer feature
    • Improves HDMI connectivity


    Warning:

    • This utility is only for use with the SMP-N100 as sold within Europe. Not all models are sold in all countries.
    • Please follow the firmware instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the firmware process and may cause the system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
    • Do not power off the player or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware may cause the system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
    • Your SMP-N100 will be reset to the factory default settings. After installing the upgrade you will need to reconfigure your player.

    Preparation

    Check the system firmware version:

    • Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the Network Media Player is connected.
    • Power on the Network Media Player.
    • Wait until the xross media bar™ menu is displayed on the television before proceeding.
    • Use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Setup" – "System Settings", and then press the ENTER button.
    • Use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "System Information" and then press the ENTER button.
    • The firmware version currently installed on the Network Media player will be listed like below on the television screen:

      SOFTWARE VERSION M.05.R.071

      If the version number is M.05.R.086 or higher, it is not necessary to install this firmware upgrade.

    The SMP-N100 Network Media player firmware can only be upgraded by performing a Network Upgrade.

    • To perform the upgrade you will need to connect the Network Media player to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
    • Please see the "Network Upgrade procedure" section below, for more information.

    • Please read all the information carefully and thoroughly before downloading and installing any file.Failure to follow the instructions may cause the player to be unresponsive or to require repair.
    • Do not power off the Network Media player or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware upgrade may cause the Network Media player to be unresponsive or to require repair.
    • In order to use this upgrade method it is necessary to have the player correctly connected to an active Internet connection.
    • In order to perform the firmware upgrade, it is necessary to have the player correctly connected to a compatible television.

    The firmware upgrade process usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.

    1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the Network Media player is connected.
    2. Connect the LAN terminal on the Network Media player to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
    3. Power on the Network Media player.
    4. At the xross media bar™ menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Setup" - "Network Update", and then press the ENTER button.
    5. The message "Perform version update?" is displayed on the television.
    6. Select "OK" and then press the ENTER button.
    7. The download process starts and the download screen is displayed on the television.
    8. During the download the message "DL */9" is displayed on the TV screen.
      Note: The "*" changes to "0" through "9," indicating the download progress.
    9. After the download is complete, the upgrade starts and "VUP" appears on the TV screen.
    10. While the upgrade is installed the message "VUP */9" is displayed on the TV screen.
      Note: The "*" changes to "0" through "9," indicating the upgrade progress.
    11. The Network Media player will automatically power off.
    12. Power on the Network Media player.
    13. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.

    Note:

    • If the last three digits of the version number are 086, the firmware upgrade was successful.

    Possible issues related to the Network Update



    When running network upgrade, the television shows "Connection status cannot be confirmed" and you cannot upgrade the firmware.

    The problem might be at the network connection. Verify that network settings of SMP-N100 are appropriate.

    1. Check the Ethernet cable to make sure it is securely connected to the "LAN" terminal on the player and to the Internet source.
    2. Check the Network Media player network settings and confirm that the player has its own IP address.If you use a proxy server, enter the IP address of the proxy you use instead of the proxy host name in the "Proxy Server" input field.
    3. Follow the Network Upgrade Instructions again.


    The power was shut down during the upgrade process.

    Power on the Network Media player, and then follow the Network Upgrade Instructions again.



    The network upgrade process has two parts, first the download and then the upgrade. If, after the download part is finished, the firmware upgrade process is still not finished after running for more than 30 minutes.

    1. Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), then reconnect after several minutes.
    2. Turn on the power of the SMP-N100.
    3. Please execute network upgrade procedure again.
