        *When shooting movies in XAVC S format, it requires SD Speed Class10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or faster. (When recording in 100 Mbps or more, UHS Speed Class U3 is required.)
        *When an SDHC memory card is used to record XAVC S movies over extended periods of time, the recorded movies will be divided into files of 4 GB. The divided files can be integrated into a single file using PlayMemories Home.

    The latest version of the system software update is compatible with most commonly used versions of Microsoft Windows:
    • Windows® 10
    • Windows® 8.1
    • Windows® 7 SP1
    • Windows® Vista* SP2

      Notes:
      * Starter edition is not supported.

    Computer hardware

    The latest version of the system software update is compatible with the following hardware:
    • Hard disk space: 500MB or more
    • RAM: 512MB or more
      Note: Please close all other application software before updating the system software.
    • Power source for the camera
      • Fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-BX1 or the AC Adaptor
    • USB cable supplied with the camera

      Note: Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.

    Important notes:

    • When performing the system software update, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-BX1 or the AC Adaptor.
    • Do not remove the battery during the update; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown.
    • Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand.
    • The system software update takes approximately 15 minutes. We recommend preventing your computer from entering sleep or hibernation mode. In case the computer enters either sleep or hibernation mode (interrupting the update), please restart the process from the beginning.

    How to download the system software updater:

    1. Make sure that you are logged on as a user with administrative rights.
    2. At the bottom of the page, read the disclaimer and agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on the checkbox. Then, click on the Download button.
    3. The download of the [Update_FDRX1000VV110.exe] file will start.
    4. Save the file to the desktop of your computer (recommended).

      Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 users:

      Under the initial settings of Internet Explorer, the update file will be saved in the [Downloads] folder. Click the [Desktop] tile from the Start screen and find the download file in the [Downloads] folder by using Explorer.

    Install

    Once the file has downloaded successfully, you're ready to install the system update Ver.1.10 for FDR-X1000V.

    Step 1: Start up the System Software Updater

    1. Close all currently running programs on your computer.
    2. Double-click the [Update_FDRX1000VV110.exe] file you downloaded to start up the System Software Updater.


      The System Software Updater window appears.

    3. Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable. "USB Mode" appears on the LCD screen of the camera.
      Note: If the computer cannot find the camera, the message "Could not find the camera for this update." appears on the computer screen. Please try the following:
      • Disconnect the USB cable from the camera, then reconnect the USB cable.
      • If there is another free USB terminal on the computer, reconnect the USB cable to this terminal.
    4. Confirm is displayed on the task tray at the lower right corner of the computer screen.
    5. After confirming the above, click Next on Firmware Updater.
      The screen below appears on Firmware Updater.

      At the same time the message "Follow computer instructions" will appear on the LCD screen of the camera. - From this point don't turn off the camera until the system software update is completed.
    6. After confirming [Current version] is [Ver.1.00], click [Next].
      If [Current version] is [Ver.1.10], the update is not required. According to the message, stop the USB connection and click Finish. Turn off the camera, remove the battery pack, reinsert the battery and turn on the camera.

    7. The screen below appears.


    8. After automatically resetting, the screen below appears and the update starts. The progress bar appears while updating (approximately 15 minutes).
      Note:Never turn off the camera nor disconnect the USB cable while updating.
    9. When the update is completed, the camera will automatically restart. Make sure the camera is turned on and wait until the LCD screen appears again. Click [Finish] when the LCD screen appears and disconnect the USB cable.

    Step 2: Confirm the system software version of your camera is Ver.1.10.

    1. Press the NEXT button or PREV button to select [SETUP] - [CONFG] - [VER.], then press the ENTER button. If Ver.1.10 appears then the system software version is Ver.1.10.
