*When shooting movies in XAVC S format, it requires SD Speed Class10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or faster. (When recording in 100 Mbps or more, UHS Speed Class U3 is required.)
*When an SDHC memory card is used to record XAVC S movies over extended periods of time, the recorded movies will be divided into files of 4 GB. The divided files can be integrated into a single file using PlayMemories Home.

Note: The update can be performed only when the remaining battery level is(three marks) or more. We recommend that you use a fully charged battery or the AC adapter AC-PW20 (sold separately).

Note: Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.
Download
- When performing the firmware update, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-FW50 or the AC adapter AC-PW20 (sold separately).
- Do not remove the battery or AC adapter during the update; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown.
- Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand.
- The firmware update takes approximately 15 minutes, therefore prevent your computer from going into sleeping mode. In case the computer would go into sleeping mode and the update would be interrupted, redo the complete update process from the start.
- Do not choose About This System Software Updater from SystemSoftwareUpdater Menu. Doing so may cause the updater software to crash, especially while updating.
Download the Firmware Updater
- Make sure that you are logged on as a user with administrative rights.
- After reading the disclaimer, click the [Download] button below.
- The download of the [Update_DSCRX10M2V130.dmg] file will start.
- Save the file on your computer.
Install
- Close all currently running programs on your computer.
- Double-click the [Update_DSCRX10M2V130.dmg] file you downloaded. - Do not connect the camera at this point.
- Double-click the [Update_DSCRX10M2V130] icon which appears on the Desktop.
- Double-click the [FirmwareUpdater] icon.
- To load a kernel extension, the message prompts you to allow the application to make changes. Type the password for the administrative account.
- Firmware Updater starts up.

- According to the instruction on the Firmware Updater window, select Menu --> Setup subpage 4 --> USB Connection on the camera, and check if Mass Storage is selected.
If another mode than Mass Storage is selected, please select Mass Storage. - Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable. "USB Mode" appears on the LCD screen of the camera.
Note: If the computer cannot find the camera, the message "Could not find the camera for this update." appears on the computer screen. Please try the following:- Disconnect the USB cable from the camera, then reconnect the USB cable.
- If there is another free USB terminal on the computer, reconnect the USB cable to this terminal.
- Click Next on the Firmware Updater window. The current version and the version after the update appear on the lower left part of the screen. If the current firmware version is 1.30 or later, the update is not required. In this case stop the USB connection and click Finish, turn off the camera, remove the battery pack and/or the AC adapter, reinsert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the camera.
- Click Next. The following screen appears.
Click to enlarge - After automatically resetting, the update will start. The progress bar appears while updating (this will take approximately 15 minutes).
Click to enlarge - When the update is completed, the camera will automatically restart. Make sure the camera is turned on and wait until the LCD screen appears again. Click Finish when the LCD screen apears and disconnect the USB cable.

Note: After restarting, the message Recovering data Please wait... may rarely display. This is normal, please wait until this message goes away.
Confirm the firmware version of your camera is Ver 1.30.
- On the camera select Menu --> Setup subpage 6 --> Version.
- The firmware version is displayed as illustrated below.
