About this upgrade :

This utility updates the BDV-IT1000 firmware to version 010, and provides the following benefits:

Improvements over firmware version 006:

  • Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.
  • Improves BD-Live performance to enhance interactivity.

Warning:

  • This utility is only for use with the BDV-IT1000 as sold within Europe. Not all models are sold in all countries.
  • Please follow the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE process and may cause the Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  • Do not power off the Home Theatre system or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE may cause the Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.

Preparation

There are two procedures to perform the BDV-IT1000 Firmware update:

  • Network Update:
    • The Network Update operation is straightforward, so it is highly recommended that you use the Network Update method.
    • You will need to connect the BDV-IT1000 to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  • Creating an Update disc to be inserted into your BDV-IT1000.
    • Use a brand new recordable CD-R disc to burn the firmware update. The Home Theatre system may not be able to correctly read a dirty disc or a disc with scratches.
    • You need a computer with a CD writer with burning software.
    • The downloaded file will create an ISO Image. An ISO image (.iso) is a disk image of an ISO 9660 file system.
    • Most CD authoring utilities can write ISO files to a disc. For more information, please check the help files of your CD authoring software.
      DO NOT USE A CD-RW. A CD-R disc is highly recommended.

Check the Home Theatre system firmware version:

  • Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the BDV-IT1000 Home Theatre system is connected.
  • Power on the BDV-IT1000 Home Theatre system.
  • If the Home Theatre system starts to play a disc, press the "STOP" button and wait until the blue Sony Blu-ray Disc™ screen is displayed on the television before proceeding.
  • At the "xross media bar™" (XMB™), use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "Setup" > "System Settings" and then press the ENTER button.
  • Use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "System Information" and then press the ENTER button.
  • Use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "System Information" and then press the ENTER button.
  • The firmware version currently installed on the BDV-IT1000 will be listed like below on the television screen:

    SOFTWARE VERSION XX.X.006

    If the version number is 010 or higher, it is not necessary to install this firmware update.

The Network Update operation is straightforward, so it is highly recommended that you use the Network Update method to update the BDV-IT1000 firmware update.

If you cannot connect the BDV-IT1000 to your Internet source, please use the "Update Disc" method in the section below.

  • Please read all the information carefully and thoroughly before downloading and installing any file.Failure to follow the instructions may cause the BD/DVD Home Theatre to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  • In order to use this update method it is necessary to have the Home Theatre system correctly connected to an active Internet connection.
  • In order to perform the firmware update, it is necessary to have the Home Theatre system correctly connected to a compatible television.

The firmware update process usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.

  1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the BD/DVD Home Theatre system is connected.
  2. Connect the LAN terminal on the Home Theatre system to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  4. If there is a disc in the system, please remove the disc.
  5. At the xross media bar® (XMB®) , use the arrow keys on the remote control to select Setup - Network Update and then press the ENTER button.
  6. Perform version update? message is displayed.



  7. Select OK and then press the ENTER button.
  8. Download process starts and download screen is displayed.
    DOWNLOAD */9 ("*" changes from "0" to "9," indicating progress) is displayed on TV screen and on the system front display.



  9. After download process, the update starts and UPDATEappears on the Home Theatre system front panel display.
  10. When updating:
    UPDATE */9 ("*" changes from "0" to "9," indicating progress) is displayed on the front panel display.
  11. The firmware update is complete when COMPLETE! appears on the Home Theatre system front panel display.
    Do not operate or power off the system until this message is displayed. Doing so may cause the BD/DVD Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  12. The BD/DVD Home Theatre system will automatically power off.
  13. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  14. Check the firmware version:



Possible issues related to the Network Update

"SYSTEM ERR" or "UPDATE NG" is displayed on the Home Theatre system front panel display.

  1. Disconnect, and then reconnect, the AC power cord.
  2. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  3. Please execute network update procedure again.
  4. If the symptom does not improve after re-update, pleasecontact Sony.

When running network update, the television shows "Connection status cannot be confirmed" and you cannot update the firmware.

The problem might be at the network connection. Verify that network settings of the Home Theatre system are appropriate.

  1. Check whether LAN cable is inserted to connector.
  2. Check network setting and confirm whether the BD/DVD Home Theatre has own IP address.If you use a proxy server, type IP address of the proxy you use instead of the proxy host name in the "Proxy Server" input field.
  3. Then please execute network update procedure again.

Power was shut down while updating.

Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system again.And then please execute network update procedure again.

The network update process has two parts, first the download and then the update. If, after the download part is finished, the firmware update process is still not finished after running after more than 30 minutes.

If you cannot connect the BDV-IT1000 to your Internet source, please use the disc update method.
If you successfully updated your BDV-IT1000 using the "Network update" in the section above, you don't need to apply this procedure.

  • Please follow the update instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the update process and may cause the Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  • Do not power off the Home Theatre system or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware update may cause the Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  • Use a brand new recordable CD-R disc to burn the firmware update. The Home Theatre system may not be able to correctly read a dirty disc or a disc with scratches.
  • Recommended operating system for the computer that will download the firmware update:
    • Microsoft® Windows® 98SE or later is needed.
    • Windows® Vista®, Windows® XP, or Windows® 2000 (Service Pack 4) is recommended.
  • You need a computer with a CD writer with burning software.
  • Most CD authoring utilities can write ISO files to a disc. For more information, please check the help files of your CD authoring software.

Download procedure :

  1. Download the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and verify that the size of the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE file is 51,284,992 bytes.
  3. Right-click the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE file, and click "Properties".
  4. On the " UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE Properties" screen, verify that the "Size:" listed is "49,4 MB (51,284,992 bytes)".



  5. Double-click the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE file to begin the process to extract the firmware update.
  6. At the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE dialog box, type a location, or click the "Browse..." button to select a location for the uncompressed update, and then click "OK". The UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.ISO file will be extracted to the specified location.
  7. Use the "Burn Image" option of your CD burning software to create the update disc from the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.ISO file

    Important notes:
    • Make sure that the disc is finalized.
    • Make sure the disc creation was correctly done without any error. In case of doubt, recreate a new update disc.
    • Burning the update disc using a packet writing software is not supported. (Packet writing is an optical disc recording technology used to allow writeable CD media to be used in a similar manner to a floppy disk).
    • Do not create the update disc using another process than the one described above.

Firmware update procedure:

  • Do not turn off the Home Theatre system or disconnect the Home Theatre system from the power supply during the update process. Doing so may damage your Home Theatre system and make it unusable, and would require a repair of the Home Theatre system.
  • Do not press any button, except as instructed, until the update is complete. Doing so may damage your Home Theatre system and make it unusable, and would require a repair of the Home Theatre system.
  1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the BD/DVD Home Theatre system is connected.
  2. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  3. Place the update disc in the system, and close the disc tray
  4. After the disc is loaded, the message, Perform version update? message is displayed.



  5. Select OK and then press the ENTER button.
  6. Download process starts and "UPDATE" appears on the system front panel display.
  7. When updating:
    UPDATE */9 ("*" changes from "0" to "9," indicating progress) is displayed on the front panel display.



  8. The firmware update is complete when COMPLETE! appears on the Home Theatre system front panel display.
    Do not operate or power off the system until this message is displayed. Doing so may cause the BD/DVD Home Theatre system to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  9. Remove the update disc from the system.
  10. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  11. Check the firmware version:



Possible issues related to the Update disc method

"SYS ERR" or "UPDATE NG" is displayed on the Home Theatre system front panel display.

  1. Disconnect, and then reconnect, the AC power cord.
  2. Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system.
  3. Follow the Disc Update Instructions again.
  4. If the problem continues, please contact Sony.

"UPDATE" is not displayed on the Home Theatre system front panel display when the update disc is inserted.

Remove the update disc from the Home Theatre system and delete the update files from your computer. Download the update again and follow the entire procedure above to create a new update disc and install the firmware update.

How can I verify that the update disc was burned
After creating the update disc, check that the disc name is "BV10-00010" in your computer.

POWER was shut down while updating.
Power on the BD/DVD Home Theatre system, and then follow the Disc Update Instructions again.

When I double click on the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.EXE update file I downloaded from the update web site, the UPDATE_BDV1000_VER010.ISO file is not created and the following error message appears: "Win32 Cabinet Self-Extraction".
The download may have failed. Delete the downloaded file and download the update file again.

The firmware update does not finish, after running for more than 30 minutes.
