Preparation

Check the firmware version

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new Sound Bar. If the version number is 1.035 or higher, you do not need to perform an update.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on this unit and make sure that it is in a normal start-up state.
  2. Connect a subwoofer to the unit.
    Please refer to the Operating Instructions for information on how to connect a subwoofer to this unit.
    (A different software version will be displayed depending on whether the subwoofer is connected or not)
  3. Press [MENU] → [down arrow], select "SYSTEM" and press [ENTER] on the remote control.
  4. Press [down arrow] repeatedly to select "VERSION" and press [ENTER] on the remote control.
  5. The unit version information is displayed by scrolling.
  6. Check the software version. (If the software version is not the latest, a software update is required.)
    If the version number is 1.035 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Important notice

  • Read the instructions carefully, or you may damage your HT-G700.
  • Do not turn off the HT-G700 or disconnect it from the power while it is updating.
  • Do not press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions.
  • Do not unplug the power cable during the update. Doing so may cause damage to the machine, which may then require repairs.
  • During the update, all operations are prohibited until the update is complete.

Software for this unit is updated using a USB storage device. For details, please see the following procedure.

Download & Install

If your computer can connect to the Internet and write to the USB storage device, you can use the computer to perform the update according to Steps 1 and 2 below.

Step 1: Use the computer to transfer the updated software file to the USB storage device.

  1. Click the [Download] button. Read and agree to the terms and conditions, then click the [Download] button. The download will start.
  2. Save the file on the computer desktop or any other location without changing the file name.
  3. Find the file on your computer, right-click on it and click . Check the file size. If the file size is approximately 1.80 MB (1,890,637 bytes) then the download has completed successfully.
    NOTE: If the size is anything other than this, the download may have failed. If this is the case, delete the file and try to download it again.
  4. Double-click the downloaded file and check that the "FW_SB1.BIN" file is present.
  5. Select "Extract all". If you put the update file on your computer desktop, select "Extract" without changing the folder to be expanded.
  6. The extract file will start one you click "Extract". When the extract is completed, the G700_Update folder will have been created. Make sure that the "FW_SB1.BIN" file is present. The download is complete.
  7. Insert the USB storage device into the USB port of your computer. "USB drive" will appear when a USB storage device is detected by your computer.
  8. Drag and drop the downloaded "FW_SB1.BIN" file directly onto the USB storage device.
    NOTE: Be sure to save the file directly onto the USB storage device without any other files.
  9. Confirm that the "FW_SB1.BIN" file is present on the USB storage device. Transfer of the update file is complete. Please proceed to [Step 2: Update the software of this unit].

Step 2: Update the software of this unit

  1. Connect the power cable of this unit.
  2. Push the power (power) button on the unit or remote control and wait until the previous input is displayed.

  3. Check whether a subwoofer is connected.
    NOTE: If a subwoofer is not connected, connect it to the unit. Please refer to the Operating Instructions for information on how to connect a subwoofer to this unit.
  4. Insert the USB storage device containing the software update into the unit.
  5. Press [MENU] → [down arrow] on the remote control and select "UPDATE" by pressing the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Select "START" by pressing the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  7. The update process will start and the panel display will appear as shown below.

  8. After "DONE" appears, the unit will restart automatically, at which point the update process will be complete.
    NOTE: Update time is about 3–10 minutes.
  9. Be sure to check that the software has been updated to the latest version by referring to the "Check the firmware version" section.

  • During the update, all operations are prohibited until the update is complete.
