Preparation

Check the firmware version

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new Sound Bar. If the version number is 1.514 or higher, you do not need to update.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on your TV and check that the input your sound bar is connected to has been selected, so if the sound bar is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.
  2. Turn on the sound bar.
  3. Press HOME on the remote control and wait until you see the home screen.
  4. On the home screen, select [Setup] > [Advanced Settings] with the arrow keys on the remote control. Then press the ENTER key.
  5. Select [System Settings] > [System Information] with the arrow keys on the remote control. Then press the ENTER key.
  6. On the TV screen, the firmware version number looks like this:
Software Version 001.514 (the 1st and 2nd zeros of the software version number can be ignored) — if the version number is 1.514 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

What you need:

  • An Ethernet cable to connect your sound bar to the internet
  • Make sure your sound bar is connected to:
    • an active Internet connection (using an Ethernet cable or wireless router)
    • a compatible TV

  2. Connect the sound bar to your internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Turn on the Sound Bar.
  4. Press [HOME] on the remote control and wait until you see the home screen.

  5. After downloading, the sound bar restarts and the main unit update starts. While the main unit is updating, the update progress status [XX%] is displayed on the front panel display.
  6. Once the main unit is updated, the sound bar will automatically restart again. If required, the update for the subwoofer or rear speakers then starts.
  7. The update is complete when the finish message appears on the TV.

  • After the Update via Internet process has started, the message Download capacity: xxxxxxKB/xxxxxKB and xx%] is displayed on the TV screen, but the progress bar on the display has not changed.

Depending on the network connection, the Update via the Internet process can take a long time (up to 60 minutes). That is why the message Download capacity: xxxxxxKB/xxxxxKB and xx%] is displayed on the TV screen and the progress bar on the display will not change for a long time.
  • When running Update via the Internet, the TV displays the message Connection status cannot be confirmed. Cannot communicate with the server. Please try again later. and you cannot perform the firmware upgrade.
    • Check that the LAN cable is connected.
    • Check that you have confirmed whether or not your sound bar has its own IP address in the network settings. (If you use a proxy server, type the IP address of the proxy you use—instead of the proxy host name—into the Proxy Server field.)
    • Try the update again.
  • The power went off while the update was in progress.
Turn the sound bar on and try the update again.
  • The update has been going for over 60 minutes and hasn't finished.
If the sound bar is connected to the network wirelessly, please try to connect to the network with a cable and try the procedure again.
If the problem continues, the network transmission speed may be low. In that case, please try to update your system following the Update via USB Memory procedure.
  • The message Already Updated is displayed on TV screen.
The firmware version currently installed on the sound bar is the latest version.
