    Security update available for NVIDIA Graphics driver issue

    Dear VAIO customer

    NVIDIA has recently identified a possibility of critical buffer overflow vulnerability in NVIDIA Graphics Driver installed on VAIO personal computers. The security update program that resolves this issue has been released and Sony recommends that you apply the update program as soon as possible.

    Affected models

    VAIO personal computers with NVIDIA Graphics Driver versions x.xx.x1.73.01 to x.xx.x3.11.00 installed.

    Potential impact

    The vulnerability potentially allows an arbitrary code to run in the affected system of a VAIO personal computer if it is used to browse certain malicious websites.


    Sony has released a security update program to correct this issue. We recommend to immediately install the latest version of NVIDIA Guard Service using one of below options.

    Option 1. Run VAIO update. Details can be found here.

    Note: If you are currently using VAIO update with the default setting, this update may have  automatically installed already.

    Option 2. Download and install the update program from the Sony Support website.

    Click the 'Downloads' tab => Latest downloads => Applicable Operating System => Driver => Look for 'NVIDIA Guard Service version'.
