How to treat liquid spillage


    Our support team has created this step-by-step guide enabling you to:
    • deal with accidental liquid spillage on your VAIO and
    • attempt to limit the damage to your VAIO.

    As soon as you notice that liquid has been spilt on your VAIO, please do the following:

    1. Immediately turn off your VAIO, disconnect it from the mains. Remove the battery, removable parts and connected devices.
    2. Drain the liquid from the keyboard by turning your notebook to different sides.  Be careful not to damage the LCD or other parts in this process.
    3. Wipe up any liquid.
    4. Leave the computer to dry for at least 24 hours before turning it back on.
    5. In case you notice any issues, please contact VAIO Support for further assistance. A support agent will discuss with you the actions that need to be taken.

    Depending on the type of liquid spilled on the VAIO, it may take a certain period before the computer starts malfunctioning.

    Please take into account that under the terms and conditions of your guarantee, liquid spillage is considered out of warranty. Once the VAIO arrives at the repair center, the damage is assessed and the price of a repair can be quoted.
