|Dear valued Sony VAIO customer,
Thank you for your continued interest in Sony products.
Sony has recently identified that the inner insulation of AC-adapters with model name VGP-AC19V18 may fail during use, potentially causing a short circuit inside the AC-adapter.
The adapters in question have been sold with certain Sony all-in-one type “VAIO Personal Computers”, sold in Europe between October 2007 and October 2009 (VGC-LT, VGC-LN, VGC-LM , VGC-JS2 and VGC-JS3 series), and with Sony’s “VAIO Personal Computer Docking Station” sold in Europe between October 2005 and October 2009 (VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1).
Only certain VAIO AC-adapters are subject to this Voluntary Replacement Programme. No other Sony AC-adapters are affected by this Voluntary Replacement Programme.
For the European market, the VGP-AC19V18 AC-adapter is equipped with an earthed connection.
This means that if the AC-adapter is connected to an earthed power socket and this internal short circuit would occur, the built-in fuse will blow and the AC-adapter will stop working.
Only in case the adapter is not connected to an earthed power socket and an internal short circuit would occur, there is a possibility of the short circuit causes an electric shock to the user when touching any of the metallic parts of the AC adapter, the PC itself or any connected peripherals.
Note: please refrain from touching any of the metallic parts of the AC adapter, the PC itself or any connected peripherals.
AA marking = not affected
