Solving persistent bluetooth connection or battery drain while earbuds are in charging case
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
When you put your earbuds back in the charging case, two things should happen:
- Your earbuds should start charging.
- The Bluetooth connection between your earbuds and the connected device is automatically disconnected.
If that doesn't happen, the Bluetooth connection persists, and your battery keeps draining; there's something wrong with the connection between the earbuds and the charging case connector.
Tips for ensuring a good earbud & charging case connection
Avoid floating
We know it's obvious, but please make sure the earbuds are securely tucked away in the charging case. They should firmly fit, so double-check to see if they're not floating, like in the picture below. It's easy to miss.
Earbud tip attachment
If the earbud tips are not properly attached to the earbuds, the earbuds won't properly fit in the charging case. Double-check if the earbud tips are correctly attached.
Clean connectors
If the connection points are dirty or a thin layer of grime has formed a layer, it could prevent a smooth connection. Clean the charging ports with a soft dry cloth, and do the same for the connection points of the earbuds.
Temperature
If you're experiencing charging issues, also be mindful of charging in a place with an ambient temperature between 15 °C and 35 °C (59 °F - 95 °F).
Third-party earbud tips
If you use earbud tips by another manufacturer, they may obstruct a good fit. Be sure to use the supplied earbud tips when charging.
