Supported headphones
Q. Which headphones are supported?
- LinkBuds (WF-L900) (Full Auto Play app support requires the headphones to be updated to version 1.6.0 or later.)
- LinkBuds S (WF-LS900N)
- LinkBuds UC (WF-L900UC)
- WH-1000XM5 (Full Auto Play app support requires the headphones to be updated to version 2.0.2 or later.)
- WF-1000XM5
Notes:
- Use the Sony | Headphones Connect app to update the headphones software to the latest version.
- LinkBuds UC does not support the After Work feature.
Q. The headphones cannot connect to an app.
A. Check the following:
- Make sure that the Service Link is set to on in the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
- Make sure that the Bluetooth function of the smartphone is set to ON.
- Make sure that the smartphone is not connected to other headphones.
- Make sure that LE-xxxxx (headphones model name) is displayed as a connected device in the smartphone's Bluetooth setting.
- If the headphones cannot reconnect to the app, delete the LE-xxxxx (headphones model name) from the smartphone list of connected devices and then, using the Auto Play app, choose the three-dot (Information) icon, select Cancel registration of this device, and then select Register the device. This will register the headphones to the app again.
Notes:
- Make sure that the headphone software, the Sony | Headphones Connect app, and the Auto Play app are all updated to the latest version.
- The headphones cannot connect to the app during the headphones software update. Try the connection again after completing the update.
About the music auto-play function
Q. The app does not start playing the music, or one or more features (Wear to Play, On the Move, Running, Gym, After Call, or After Work) do not work.
A. Check the following:
- Make sure that the headphones are connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth. Check that LE-xxxxx (headphones model name) is displayed as a connected device in the Bluetooth setting.
- If you use only one side of the headphones, wear the right side. The app cannot be used with only the left side worn.
- Make sure that the Enabled time is set. You can check the settings in Lifestyle settings → select the desired feature → When to enable.
- Make sure that the Auto Play app is running.
- Make sure that the app that supports Service Link is installed on your smartphone, and that the initial setup of the app is complete.
- The Auto Play feature will not be started in the following situations:
- When you are talking with someone using the headphones
- When another Auto Play feature started within 5 minutes
- When any scheduled event is set in the calendar app linked with the Auto Play app within 15 minutes
- When the music using the Wear to Play feature does not start, please wait. It can take some time to play music after putting on the headphones.
- When the music is not played using the On the Move feature:
- Make sure an animation of a person walking is displayed on the Home screen of the Auto Play app.
- It may take some time to play music after you start walking.
- When the music is not played while using the Running feature:
- The Running feature will start 3 seconds after you start to run or jog
- It may take some time to play music after you start to run or jog
- When the music is not played using the Gym feature:
- Make sure that Gym is selected on the My Place settings
- It may take some time to play music after arriving at the gym
- When the music is not played using the After Call feature:
- If the time you have been talking was less than 3 minutes, the feature will not be started
- It may take some time to play music after the call
- When the music is not played using the After Work feature:
- Make sure that Connect to 2 devices simultaneously is set to ON on the Sony | Headphones Connect app
- Make sure that the smartphone and computer are connected to the headphones simultaneously (multipoint connection)
- The feature will start when the Bluetooth connection with a computer is disconnected during the time between 30 minutes before the work time set and the end of the day
- Depending on the computer, just closing the display panel may not disconnect the Bluetooth connection. Check the computer settings for details
- LinkBuds UC does not support the After Work feature
Q. After updating my smartphone's OS to Android 12, the headphones cannot be connected to the Auto Play app, or music is not played automatically.
A. After updating to Android 12, access to the Auto Play app should be reassigned.
- If the headphone's connection status is shown as Disconnected on the Home screen of the Auto Play app, tap the Update icon on the right side of the Disconnected display, and select Allow to find the nearby devices
- In the smartphone Setting, allow access to the apps you use with the Auto Play app:
- Calendar app
- The app that supports the Service Link feature (Spotify, Endel, etc.)
Voice Notification
Q. How to change the notification frequency for a specific app.
A. Select Lifestyle settings → App notifications and tap the name of the specific app to change the notification frequency for that app.
You can change the notification frequency in the following ways:
- Notify me in real time: Notifications are read out loud when they are received.
- Notify me when I’m moving: Read out loud at a convenient time when you're moving.
- Off
Q. The notifications are not being read out.
A. Check the following:
- Check the notification frequency setting in the Lifestyle Settings → App notifications.
- If multiple notifications are detected from the same app, only the latest notifications will be read.
- If you use only one side of the headphones, wear the right side. The app cannot be used with only the left side worn.
- For an Android app: Make sure that access to notifications is turned on. You can check the settings in the Lifestyle Settings → App notifications.
- For an iOS app: In the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone, select LE-xxxxx (headphones model name) and check that Share System Notifications is set to ON.
Q. I want to cancel the notification during the read-out.
A. You can cancel the read-out using the following operation:
- LinkBuds (WF-L900), LinkBuds UC (WF-L900UC): Tap 3 times on either of the headphones or around your ear
- LinkBuds S (WF-LS900N), WF-1000XM5, WH-1000XM5: Touch for a while on the right touch sensors
Q. I cannot set the app to enable the notifications to be read out.
A. You can only set it in the App notifications or History menu while you are wearing the headphones.
About Silent mode
Q. What is Silent mode?
A. Silent mode is a mode that disables all the music auto-play functions and voice notifications.
Linking with a calendar app
Q. How to change the calendar app account.
A. Select Lifestyle Settings → Lifestyle basic settings → Calendar settings, and then select the calendar account you want to change.
Q. The Auto Play app cannot link with a calendar app.
A. Check the following:
- Add an account from your calendar app (For Android: Google Calendar app, iOS: Calendar app).
- Make sure access to the calendar is allowed in the App permissions section of the Auto Play app.
Q. Some schedules are not reflected in the Auto Play app.
A. Depending on the network environments or the app, it may take some time to be reflected in the Auto Play app after putting a schedule in your calendar app.
