TV catch-up services (BBC, YouView, iTV, All4, My5) now available on 2021 Google TVs

    We are happy to announce that TV catch-up services will soon become available on Sony’s 2021 Google TVs. Starting 21 December 2021, Sony will start gradually rolling out a new software update that includes catch-up apps.

    How to get TV catch-up apps on my Sony TV?

    Step 1: Check the applicable TV models

    Make sure your TV series is included in the list below:

    • X80J, X81J, X82J, X85J, X89J, X90J, X92J, X93J, X94J, X95J, A80J, A83J, A84J, A90J and Z9J

    Step 2: Update your TV software

    On 21 December 2021, Sony will begin gradually releasing new software that includes TV catch-up services. You will get the update automatically if the Automatically check for update setting is enabled on your TV.

    TIP: You can receive this software update (version 6.4304) immediately by following the steps below on your TV:

    Go to Settings → System → About → System Software update → Software update.

    How to find catch-up apps and reorder app icons

    Google TV Mode (you’re signed in with your Google account)

    After the update, your catch-up apps are added to the end of your app list. You might have to change their position because only the first 14 apps are visible in the ‘Your apps’ section of the Home screen.

    Follow the steps below to move apps around:

    1. On the TV Home screen under Your apps, select See all.
    2. Select the app you want to move. You might have to scroll down to see your catch-up apps.
    3. Press and hold the OK/Selection button on the supplied remote control.

    4. In the pop-up, select Move.
    5. Move the app’s thumbnail to the desired position.  

    Note: The default app icon placement is decided by Google.

    Basic Mode (you’re not signed in with your Google account)

    The order of the app icons that appear on the TV’s Home screen cannot be modified in Basic Mode. To modify the order, sign in with your Google account.
