I can't operate the device when the cover is open
See if your device is resting on a metal desk or shelf with the cover folded back. Try removing it and see if the device becomes responsive. When the cover is folded back and touching a metal surface, a detection error may cause the screen to switch to the Ambient display and disable touch operation.
