What is Predictive Capture?

Predictive Capture automatically takes photos the instant an object enters the camera frame before you press a button. It detects movement in front of the camera lens and starts to buffer images while you’re preparing to shoot. That means, if you clicked too late, you can just go back and choose from up to four captured photos taken from around one second before you clicked the camera button. If no movement has been detected, Predictive capture will not be activated. Predictive capture can only be activated when Superior auto mode is selected and is set to Auto by default.

Note: On devices running Android 9.0, Superior Auto is the default camera mode

How to use Predictive capture

Devices running Android™ 9.0:

To enable/disable Predictive Capture

1. Activate the camera.
2. Tap  → Predictive Capture.
3. Select Auto or Off.
    

Devices running Android 8.0:

To select Superior Auto Mode

1. Activate the camera.
2. Swipe to Superior Auto Mode.

To enable/disable Predictive Capture

1. Activate the camera.
2. Swipe to Superior Auto Mode.
3. Tap the gear icon, then tap More.
4. Tap Predictive Capture, then select Auto or Off.
