Sony Channel Editor: Basic user guide

The Sony Channel Editor tool allows you to re-order your channel list via your PC. Simply download the list onto a USB stick, edit the order and then upload it back to your TV. The tool is available on your TV's product page.

This article will explain how to use the tool, import/export your list, change the language and select the most suitable mode (terrestrial, satellite or operator).
 

How to use the Sony Channel editor tool

Once you have downloaded the tool to your PC, please modify the channel list of your TV using these three simple steps:

1. Export the channel list from your TV

Insert a memory stick into a USB port on your TV:

• For Sony’s Android models
  • Android 10: [Home] → [Settings] → [Channels & Inputs] →  [Channels] →  [Digital Channel list transfer] →  [Export]
  • Android 9.0 Pie: [Home] → [Settings] → [Watch TV] →  [Channels] →  [Program List Transfer] →  [Export]
  • Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 8.0 Oreo: [Home] → [Settings] → [Channel Setup] →  [Digital setup] →  [Technical Set-up] →  [Program List Transfer] →  [Export]
     
• For Sony’s non-Android models go to: [Home] →  [Settings] →  [System Settings] →  [Channel Set-up] →  [Digital Set-up] →  [Technical Set-up] →  [Program List Transfer] →  [Export]

A file called “sdb.xml” will be copied onto your memory stick.

2. Modify the channel list on your computer

• Insert the memory stick with “sdb.xml” into a USB port on your computer.
• Launch the Channel Editor tool and open “sdb.xml”.
• Re-order the programmes in your channel list.
• Save your modified channel list onto “sdb.xml” in the memory stick.

3. Import the channel list to your TV

Insert the memory stick with the modified “sdb.xml” into a USB port on your TV.

You will have the new channel list after your TV restarts.

New channels, added by the broadcaster, will not automatically sync with the current channel list in your TV Guide. To receive the latest channels, please retune your TV before sorting your programmes again using the Sony Channel Editor.
