28 February 2017 - Parent company ProSieben has decided to terminate the free music service Ampya and refocus their brand.
Via Ampya, users were able to watch music videos and compile playlists individually. More than 130,000 titles were accessible via Smart TV, Smartphone, Tablet or the classic website.
From March 1, 2017, Ampya will be completely discontinued and users will no longer be able to watch videos through the platform. Nonetheless, consumers can still access all music videos via YouTube.
As a brand, Ampya will refocus on dedicated YouTube channels and be linked to the multi-channel network Studio71. One reason for this strategy is the agreement between Youtube and GEMA . Before, music videos were often blocked in Germany, but are now almost completely accessible, paving the way for this strategic repositioning.
