How to update ?
- Download the USBDRVEN.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
IMPORTANT: If you have tried to install the Windows 98/98SE driver originally supplied with certain models onto a computer running the Windows Me operating system, proceed with the Special Procedure described later on the page before installing this file. Otherwise, please continue with the steps below.

Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the USBDRVEN.EXE file to begin the installation.
Note: the default location where the files are extracted is "C:\USB_DRV". - Go to "C:\USB_DRV" (the letter can be different depending on your computer).
- Double-click the Setup.exe file.
- At the "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Sony USB Driver" screen, click the Next button.
- At the "Information" screen, click the Next button. Please wait as the files are installed.
- At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." is selected and click the Finish button.
- After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony® USB Driver is complete.
IMPORTANT:
If you have tried to install the Windows 98/98SE operating system driver originally supplied with one of the following products onto a computer running the Windows Me operating system, please follow the Special Procedure below to remove it.
Special Procedure
Affected models
- DSC-S30/S50/S70
- DSC-F505/F505V/F55V
- DSC-P1, DCR-PC110
- Using the supplied cable, connect the camera to the computer via the USB port.
- Connect the camera to the computer.
- Insert a Memory Stick into the camera, and turn the camera on.
- Click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and click System.
- At the "System Properties" window, click the Device Manager tab.
- Scroll down the list of devices, and double-click the "Disk drives" entry to expand it.
- Click to highlight the "Sony Removable Disk" or "SONYUCAM Sony Camera Disk" entry and click Remove.
- At the "Confirm Device Removal" box, click OK. DO NOT restart the computer.
- Repeat the process to delete all of the following entries in order:
- Under "Hard disk controllers", delete "Sony USB Device Driver."
- Under "Universal Serial BUS controllers", delete "Sony USB Mass Storage Class Driver."
- Disconnect the camera from the computer.
- Change the computer folder view settings to display hidden files and folders.
- Double-click the My Computer icon
- From the menu bar, click View (or Tools) and then Folder Options.
- At the "Folder Options" window, click the View tab.
- Under "Advanced Settings," select "Show all hidden files and folders."
NOTE: If "Hide file extensions for known file types" is checked, click to remove the checkmark from the box.
- Click OK to close the "Folder Options" window.
- Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "My Computer" window.
- Click Start, point to Search and then click "Files or Folders..."
- At the "Find: All Files" window, enter sonysys camdisk in the "Named:" field.
NOTE: There is a space between sonysys and camdisk.
- Select Local Disk (C:) in from the "Look in:" drop-down menu.
- Click on the Search Now button.
- Once the Search is complete, right-click on the SONYSYS.SYS file and select delete from the menu.
- At the "Confirm File Delete" box, click Yes
- Repeat the process to delete each of the following three files:
- CAMDISK.PDR
- Sony CorporationSONYSYS.INF
- Sony CorporationCAMDISK.INF
NOTE: Only delete files. Do not delete any folders.
- Disconnect the camera from the computer.
- Restart the computer.
- After the computer restarts, continue with the installation instructions for the USB driver.
