Personal Space™ is an online media service from Sony® which provides sharing of photos and videos with friends and family through e-mail and Sharing Groups. Below are some commonly asked question topics.
If I do not transfer my Personal Space ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID, how long can I use my current Personal Space ID?
You can use it until middle of March 2012.
Is there any difference in functions when using Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID and Personal Space ID to log into Personal Space?
At the moment, there is no difference in Personal Space services.
If my Personal Space ID is expired, what will happen to my current Personal Space account?
You will not be able to use your account anymore. It is recommended to transfer your Personal Space ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID as soon as possible.
If my Personal Space ID is expired, what will happen to the images uploaded to my Personal Space account?
If you do not transfer your ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID, the images you uploaded will be deleted. The images shared (uploaded) by others can be viewed if they transferred their ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID. If not, you will not be able to view them.
I already have a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID. Can I use it for Personal Space?
Yes, you can. Please transfer your Personal Space ID to your Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID.
How can I create a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID?
You can create it from the Personal Space website. Log into Personal Space from the login screen, and follow the instruction on the screen to associate the Personal Space ID with the Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID.
Can I transfer my Personal Space ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID after my Personal Space ID is expired?
No, you can't. It is recommended to transfer your Personal Space ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID as soon as possible.
If I transfer my Personal Space ID to a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID, can the recipients of my share mails previously sent from the Personal Space ID still view my images from the mails?
Yes, they can.
Is the creation of a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) ID charged?
No, it is free of charge.
What is required to use the Personal Space™ Web site and media services?
To begin using the Personal Space™ Web site and media services, you need to create a Sharing Group with one of the following software versions:
- PMB 5.2 or higher
- PMB Portable 5.2 or higher (for computers with a Microsoft® Windows® operating system)
- PMB Portable 1.2 or higher (for Macintosh® computers)
- Bloggie Software
Which operating systems are supported by Personal Space?
To use Personal Space, you should be running one of the following supported operating systems:
- Windows XP or higher with latest updates installed
- Mac OS X 10.4 or higher
Which types of browsers are supported by Personal Space?
To get the best experience on the Personal Space website, use one of the following browsers:
- Firefox 3.5 or higher
- Internet Explorer (IE) 7.0 or higher
- Safari 3.0 or higher
- Chrome 4.0 or higher
Which version of Flash is supported by the Personal Space website?
The Personal Space website supports Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 and higher.
What version of the iPhone operating system should I have for the iPhone application to work properly?
You should have iPhone OS 3.0 or higher installed on your iPhone.
What version of the Android operating system should I have for the Personal Space Android application to work properly?
You should have at least Android 1.5 or higher installed on your Android device.
How long does it take to upload and download pictures and video to the Personal Space™ Web site?
The length of time it takes to upload or download pictures and video varies depending on certain factors. Therefore, it is not possible to give a precise estimate in every circumstance.
Upload and download time is affected by the following:
- Connection speed
- The number of photos or videos being uploaded
- The original size of each photo or video
- Performance of the computer
How do I create an account?
There are two ways to create an account:
- Go to the following link: http://sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/ and click on “Create your FREE account today”. After doing so, please follow the instructions and submit all the required information.
- You can also create an account using the PMB client.
Do I need an account to view Sharing Groups?
No, you do not need an account to view Sharing Groups.

What is the Personal Space™ Sharing Group area?
This area shows all of the Personal Space™ Sharing Groups that you have created or been invited to view. To view a Personal Space™ Sharing Group, click on the image or title that belongs to the Personal Space™ Sharing Group you want to see.
How to become part of a Sharing Group on the Personal Space™ Web site.
To become part of a user's Personal Space™ Sharing Group you need to contact the owner of the group and request an invite. The invitation is sent via by e-mail.
How can members be invited to my Personal Space™ Sharing Group?
There are two ways to invite members:
- During the initial creation of our Sharing Group/Mail Share using Picture Motion Browser, enter the e-mail addresses of the people and friends you want to invite.
- If you already have an existing Sharing Group, click See All and then click Invite Friends to add members.
Some of my friends that I invited to a Personal Space™ Sharing Group did not receive an invitation.
First make sure you have entered the proper e-mail addresses for your friends. If you are sure the e-mail addresses are correct, then tell the friends you invited that they should check their junk e-mail/spam folder for the invite. Depending on their e-mail settings, some e-mail can be misinterpreted as junk e-mail or spam.
How can an invited member be removed from a Personal Space™ Sharing Group?
- Log into your Personal Space™ account.
- Browse to the Sharing Group where you want to remove the member.
- Inside the Sharing Group, click See All to view all the members that are a part of that group.
- Move the mouse cursor over the member name you want to remove to display a removal button (in the form of a red X)
- Click the removal button to remove the member from the Sharing Group.
How can I unsubscribe (unjoin) from a Sharing Group to which I was invited?
- Log into your Personal Space™ account.
- Move the mouse cursor over the thumbnail image of the Sharing Group from which you want to unsubscribe.

How to delete a Personal Space™ Sharing Group.
By moving the mouse cursor over a group, a removal button appears (in the form of a red X). Click the removal button to delete that group.
Note:If you are the owner of a Sharing Group, the Sharing Group is removed from your account and from the account of all other invited members.
Note:If you are a member of the Sharing Group, the Sharing Group is only removed from your account. Access to it is not affected for the owner or other members of the Sharing Group.
What is the Outbox?
The Outbox is an area that lists all of the Mail Shares you have sent out to family and friends.
How do I delete my messages in the Outbox?
You can delete a Mail Share in the Outbox by clicking on the link labeled “Delete” located in each message.
If I delete a Mail Share in my Outbox, will it still be available for other users that I have shared to view?
No, the Mail Share will be deleted from all the invited users account.
What is the Inbox?
The Inbox is an area that lists all of the Mail Shares that your friends and family have shared with you.
How do I delete a Mail Share in my Inbox?
You can delete a Mail Share in your Inbox by clicking on the link labeled “Delete” located in each message.
If I delete a Mail Share in my Inbox, will it still be available for other user and owner of the Mail Share?
Yes, deleting Mail Shares in your Inbox only removes it from your Inbox. It does not affect other users or the owner of the Mail Share.
What information shows in the Recent Activity section of the Personal Space™ Web site?
The Recent Activity Section shows the activities that are going on in your Personal Space™ Sharing Groups. It displays information such as news, comments, ratings, tagging, and who has joined the group. You can also view the album that contains the recent activity by clicking on the album link attached to the news.
How to check how much storage space remains on the Personal Space™ account.
The amount of used storage space can be found in the
Account Informationsection of the
Account Overviewpage. To access the Account Overview page click the user name or Avatar at the top-right of the screen.
How to delete individual pictures or video in a Personal Space™ Sharing Group?
By moving the mouse cursor over a picture or video clip, a removal button appears (in the form of a red X). Click the removal button to delete the photo or video.
Note:Deleting pictures or video from a Sharing Group can only be done by the owner/creator of the Sharing Group.
Comments cannot be added to a picture or video on the Personal Space™ Web site.
Before a comment can be posted, you need to log into your Personal Space™ account. After you are logged in, type your comment into the available text box for the picture or video and then click the Post Comment button to submit the message.
Who can rate and comment on pictures and videos posted on the Personal Space™ Web site?
Users that have been invited to a Sharing Group and are logged in and registered with the Personal Space™ Web site can provide ratings and comments.
Note:The rating system is based on 1 to 5 stars. More stars mean a better rating. Click the amount of stars you want to rate a photo or video (on the right-hand side of the Detail page).
What are Tags?
A Tag is a keyword or term assigned to a piece of information that is attached to a selected file. Tags help describe the file and can be easily used to help find a photo or video when searching or browsing.
How do I access my user settings in Personal Space?
Clicking on your user avatar will direct you to the settings page.
About the Overview Section.
The Account Overview Section displays the following information:
- Member Since (join date)
- Last Logged In
- Storage Usage
About the Accounts Setting Section
You can view/change the following criteria in the Accounts Setting Section:
- First/Last Name
- Change Password
- Add/Change Primary Email Address
