Glossary : Storage & Recording Media

Advanced Iris
Advanced Iris is a special function designed to improve contrast, especially in darker scenes. Use either one of two modes, Auto and Manual. The Auto Mode has two settings designed to work best with video content such as movies that vary between bright scenes and dark scenes. Auto 1 is for programmes that have a wide range of brightness from scene to scene. Auto 2 is for programmes that have less variation between brightness levels from scene to scene.
2.0 effective Megapixel
A digital still photography CCD format that provides an image resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, suitable for high-quality printing or Internet applications requiring fine image detail. The effective number of pixels is a count of the pixels that form the final image. The more pixels a camera has, the more the size of a photo can be increased without losing picture quality.
Account
When you sign up with an Internet Service Provider (ISP), you are given an account name or account ID as well as a password. This will allow you to access the Internet as well as your e-mail account when your modem dials the access number provided by the ISP.
Backlight Compensation
When using conventional camcorders, subjects can appear as silhouettes if a strong light source is positioned behind them. All Handycam models include Backlight Compensation, which ensures that this does not occur and subjects appear clearly.
