We are engaged in a constant review of our manufacturing, operational and business practices to ensure that our products are developed in an environmentally responsible way.

Product

• Sony’s digital HDD DVD recorders are energy efficient. The stand-by mode function has three modes and in the most efficient stand-by mode the power consumption is only 0.75 watt. Further, the printed circuit boards are all lead-free and all cover and housing parts are PVC-free.

Almost all of the parts are halogen-free, including the circuit boards.

Process

For easier recycling, all parts used in the production of Sony’s recorders are easily separable.

• We also shortened the time required to separate parts for recycling by 5% compared to last year’s models. After the parts are separated, more than 50% can be recycled.

Moreover, the cartons for packaging are made from recycled materials. And recycled papers is used for the instruction manuals.
