We are engaged in a constant review of our manufacturing, operational and business practices to ensure that our products are developed in an environmentally responsible way.

Product

• Compared to Sony’s previous Blu-ray players, the new BDP-S550 reduced the overall unit size by 55 per cent, packing material by 52 per cent and the unit’s total weight by 38 per cent. The compact size of the finished package reduces C02 emissions related to shipping by approximately 43 per cent.

In addition, the unit features 21 per cent less power consumption in playback mode and 43 per cent reduced power consumption in stand-by mode.

Process

• The BDP-S550 features lead-free solder, all-paper packing and the user guide is printed on 70 per cent recycled paper with Volatile Organic Compound-free vegetable oil based ink.
