The HDC-1000 is now ready for 3G transmission
The HDC-1000 studio camera utilises advanced HD Digital Signal Processing with 14 bit A/D. The HDC-1000 incorporates a newly developed CCD imager that creates images in either 1080/50 frame progressive or 1080/50 field interlace frame rates, depending on desired final system output. The new CCD and DSP LSI are two key devices that allow stunning image creation in a variety of scanning modes. The new camera system accommodates all popular interlace and progressive scan formats including 1080/50, 1080/24P as well as the highest-quality 720/50P images.
The HDC-1000 provides digital transmission using SMPTE standard fibre optic cable for connecting its associated HDCU-1000/1500 Camera Control Unit. In addition to its exceptional quality, the camera can transmit all-digital bi-directional video and audio signals, one control line, power line, and prompter line over extremely long distances - up to 3000 metres with the HDCU-1000 and 1800 metres with the HDCU-1500. If required, the HDC-1000 can be operated in a triax environment by utilising the optional HDFX-100 triax adapter.
The use of a new, state-of-the-art CCD sensor ensures high quality images even at low light level. The high sensitivity of F10 at 2000 lux, together with a signal to noise ratio of 54 dB combine to deliver unprecedented picture quality.
The HDC-1000 can operate in a wide variety of capturing modes, including 1080 50/60i, 1080 24/25/30P. Furthermore, the CCD can capture 1080 50/60P images, which can be down sampled to deliver the highest quality 720 50/60P pictures.
The design of the HDC-1000 is based on over two decades of Sony experience in manufacturing broadcast video cameras and camcorders, and provides a high level of operability. All control switches and connectors are in the most logical places and are positioned for optimum functionality and ease of use. The HDC-1000's compact body delivers all the benefits of a full size studio camera but in a much smaller, low profle design.
The camera provides two HD SDI outputs and one digitally down-converted SDI or analogue composite output. In addition, viewfinder signals with characters can be output from the SDI output connector, giving camera operators additional convenience. Furthermore, when using 24P operation, the built-in 2-3 pull-down function of the HDC-1000 enables 60i down-converted SD signals to be output on a standard SD monitor —a capability that also minimises the flickers that generally occur on the viewfinder.
