3D entertainment for the whole family

Forget those old cardboard 3D glasses: our 3D glasses use advanced Active Shutter technology to deliver full High Definition 3D. Our 3D TVs use a Frame-sequential display method which is based on BRAVIAs High Frame Rate technology to display different frames consecutively to your left and right eye. The Active Shutter glasses with liquid crystal lenses receive a signal from the TV via the 3D sync transmitter and close one of the lenses in a fragment of a second so only one eye at a time sees the relevant Full HD picture. The result is a real sense of depth which can be seen from a wide viewing angle without the flickering you get from some other types of 3D glasses.

They’re built for comfort too, with flexible earpieces and adjustable side arms; and with a battery life of approximately 100 hours you’ll be able to enjoy even more 3D entertainment. And for the kids? Smaller glasses of course, in a choice of pink or blue.

Bring games to life with 3D television

3D gaming is about to get real. To enable true 3D gameplay on the new BRAVIA 3D TVs, we are releasing a free of charge 3D firmware upgrade for the PLAYSTATION®3. At the same time, a number of exciting new 3D games will be released including WipEout HD, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, SuperStardust HD and PAIN. And if you already own these games, you’ll be able to upgrade to the 3D version absolutely free, simply by downloading a patch from the PlayStation Network.

Convert 2D films and photos into 3D

On Full HD 3D BRAVIA TVs, you can enjoy standard 2D movies, television programmes and photos upscaled to 3D. Pushing the 3D button on your remote control applies a special conversion algorithm that converts two-dimensional pictures to a 3D signal, suitable for viewing through your Active Shutter glasses. 3D Up-conversion works with a wide variety of formats, including Blu-ray Disc™, DVD, broadcast TV and still pictures.
