The engineering story

Inspiration

One of our sound engineers longed for a car stereo compatible with every music device he owned. He had a Walkman®, a really old MP3 player and a Sony Ericsson mobile.

But what he most wanted was Bluetooth™ connectivity.

With that, he could control his music from the main stereo unit – rather than fiddle around with each device to change track or find an album. And, he could hook up his mobile phone and use it like a hands-free kit.

Creation

Our engineer invented an entire range of car stereo head units capable of playing back music from any device.

What’s more, there’s a car stereo in our range that lets you play music back from an MP3 player or iPod (with an adaptor) and a mobile phone, plus hands-free calling.
Our USB head unit gives you a simple plug and play option to enjoy your portable music collection on the go. There’s also 1-wire technology, which means you can hook up your Walkman®, iPod or any other MP3 player using only a USB connector.

And there’s even an auxiliary input, just in case your player doesn’t have a USB connector.

Demonstration

Thanks to our engineer, Sony now has a car stereo head unit to play music from any source. And they’re tested with thousands of devices to ensure best possible connectivity.

As an alternative to a hands-free phone kit, our car stereos offer more convenience and safety. Plus they provide A2DP music streaming for half the price of other models out there.

So you can listen to all your music, and chat hands-free, with one single in-car solution. Easy.
