Inspiration

Digital Noise Cancelling delivers amazing audio fidelity, and blocks out external ambient noise, so all you hear is the purity of your music. You’d usually find it hidden in a pair of headphones.

But traditionally, these can be big, clunky and not very portable…

So we wondered just how possible it would be to fit this groundbreaking technology into such a tiny device.

Creation

Very possible, in fact. Our clever engineers shrunk and moved the Digital Noise Cancelling processing element to sit inside the Walkman® player itself.

Why? To keep our ultra small and lightweight in-ear phones as portable as the device without weighing you down.

They also injected our original Hi-Fi audio technology, S-Master Digital Amplifier, to make your music free from distortion and sound even better.

Demonstration

The Walkman® X Series is the world's first portable device with Digital Noise Cancelling built-in. It’s also the first Walkman® video MP3 player to have S-Master Digital Amplifier inside.

How do we know it works?

We tested the purity of the X Series playback in the noisiest environments we could find – next to fridge fans, air con units and finally a jet engine. And all you get is crystal clear sound with no distortion and no background noise, every time.
