Connecting your mp3 player to your hi fi system

Release your mp3 music, wherever it’s stored

Introduction

Do you keep your best tunes on an iPod®, a WALKMAN® or another mp3 player? Or maybe on your PC?

Sony makes connecting easy so your favourite music is where you want it, when you want it, without a lot of complicated PC software.

We offer different solutions, depending on how you want to connect, and several of our models come with more than one type of connection for even more flexibility.

USB

USB is simplicity itself. Just plug in your mp3 player and play the music in crisp hi fi sound. Most of our models can also record via your USB so you can rip CD music directly on to your portable player, without the use of a PC.

Bluetooth® Stereo

Bluetooth® Stereo is an advanced version of Bluetooth® which lets you beam music in high quality stereo up to 30 metres with no wires.

More and more mobile phones come with this Stereo version of Bluetooth® (also called A2DP) and there’s a great new WALKMAN® with Bluetooth® Stereo built in. All the latest Sony VAIO PCs also come with this version of Bluetooth®.

We also produce high quality Bluetooth® headphones for wire free listening from your hi fi, as well as adaptors to make your other equipment work with your new Bluetooth® Stereo micro system.

All the details of how it works and which products can connect can be found by clicking the release your music link below.

Digital Media Port

Digital Media Port lets you plug in an iPod® or WALKMAN® charge-and-play cradle, or other accessories to upgrade to Bluetooth® or Wi-fi.

We now even supply the iPod® cradle as a free of charge extra with the new GigaJuke and Bluetooth® systems.

Wi-Fi

The GigaJuke offers ultimate connectivity: advanced DLNA Standard Wi-fi to beam your music all around the house, even through solid walls.

You can send music to additional speaker units in up to five rooms, meaning you can have five different songs playing in different parts of the house all at the same time.

You don’t even have to do this via your wireless home router: it’s direct from system to speakers with no PC involved.

You also get an iPod® dock-and-charge unit (or optional WALKMAN® docker) and can upgrade your system to Bluetooth® Stereo to receive music wirelessly from your mobile phone.

When you want to release your music on the move, simply plug your mp3 player (Any type) into the USB slot for a high speed music top up and you’re good to go.
