7 New Year’s Resolutions

For music lovers

It’s normal to be bad at keeping New Year’s resolutions. According to a 2014 poll by the University of Scranton’s psychology department, 71 percent of people made New Year’s resolutions, but six months later, less than 50 percent managed to stick to them. 2016 is the chance to turn that around!

As you set your sights on the New Year, consider setting some fun, realistic goals in addition to your stretch goals. Start thinking about what you want to do instead of what you should do. You’ll be much more likely to commit to your resolutions and actually accomplish them.

Music lovers, have you started thinking about your New Year’s resolutions? Whether it’s discovering a new local artist, reorganizing your music library or finally biting the bullet and purchasing a ticket for Coachella, here are some fun things to add to your 2016 bucket list.

1. Get out of your “music comfort zone”

And discover some new songs. A new year offers a chance for you to expand your musical horizons. Have you sworn that you’ll never listen to country? Venture out of your comfort zone and start experimenting by listening to new music genres and new musicians. It’s nice to have the bragging rights when you discover a talented unknown artist before they get big.

2. Rep your favorite bands

And buy some concert T-shirts. Show your favorite music artists some love by buying some of their merchandise at the next show.

3. Use music to motivate you to get moving

And excited about your exercise regime. It can be tough to get yourself out the door and to the gym, but the right music can make all the difference. Need help creating the perfect workout playlist? Take a look at the one we’ve put together below.

4. Stop dreaming about Coachella

And actually book that ticket. Whether you’ve been dying to go to Lollapalooza in Chicago, Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas, Lovebox in London or any other major music festival, 2016 is the year to make it happen. Trust us, you’ll regret not buying that ticket when you’re sitting at home, looking through all your friends’ amazing photos and videos on Instagram the next day.

5. Make more music playlists

For friends and loved ones. An original music playlist makes for the perfect personalized gift. If you need song ideas, we’ve got you covered. Check out one of our hand-curated music playlists below.

6. Upgrade your music equipment

And invest in a quality High-Resolution Audio player. Consider looking into a music player that you can take on-the-go like Sony’s NWZ-A Series High-Resolution Walkman® or a top-of-the-notch system like the HAP-Z1ES HDD Audio Player. Your ears will thank you for it.

7. Leave your phone in your pocket

For an entire show. Lay off Snapchat for a few hours, and just live in the moment. This is your chance to really connect with your favorite music artists, and you can’t do that when your eyes are glued to your phone.

Here’s to a New Year filled with great music, awesome concerts and some rockin’ resolutions!
