you dont seriousely believe that!, in fact they are more likely to get hold of one before anyone else!, what would make this even funnier (admittedly i have not looked) is i hope the disc does not carry the Sony pictures home entertainment logo on it, that would be embarrassing!

I seriously wouldn't imagine that Sony view every film that is released..![]()
However in answer to your question, yes I do, issues such as this don't usual come to Sony's attention until someone reports that they have a problem viewing the BD movie..
Yup Thalamus is correct - there is obviously something a little bit different about this disc so the player software needs to be modified to fix it. Usually the replication outfits rather than hardware manufacturers test discs for compatibility, certainly Sony DADC do, but for whatever outfit did this disc, it appears not to have happened.
Have S-380 and this is happening with my copy of Fright Night which I bought yesterday as well. This isn't the first time something has happened with a disc. Kill List is prone to judder.
I find it hard to believe that this kind of problem occurs, Blu Ray is supposed to be the next step up in Viewing format and I mean it's not as if Blu Rays have only be around for a year. This kind of problem is nothing short of laziness and favouritism with other hardware (Namely the Ps3)
A friend of mine recently bought A PS3 because he was experiencing problems with playback on some Blu-Rays he's yet to have any problems.
I think the fact that the PS3 is working just goes to show that a similar constant firmware update system should be implemented on all Blu-Ray players also.
Please keep me informed as to the situation.
i habe probably the same problem

Thank you for that information, now we can present to Sony why does this disc only work on Sony Vaio laptops and Playstation 3's ???, and not any BluRay players ?, this is taking far too long to remedy the situation, surely now with this new information its only a case of working out whats been added to the Vaio's and PS3's that has not to the BluRay players!!!
i hope so 2...i hope it well be soon resolved the problem..with an software update i hope!!

I have a S185 and I'm experiencing the same problems.
At first the screen went blank as it tried loading the disc then the player turned itself off and on and then off again.
I changed the setting 'BD/DVD-Rom 1080/24p output' to off (rather than auto) and tried again, this time the 'Touchstone' logo appeared before it turned itself off.
This is the UK version that I rented from LOVEFILM.

I have the same player and the same Bluray (from Lovefilm) and have the exact same problem. I tried changing the BD/DVD-Rom setting and the exact same thing happened for me.
Is this related to firmware or hardware? This is the 1st bluray I have had problems with, is this just the start?
Cheers

I haven't had my player long, I've tried a total of 5 Blu-Ray discs so far and the only one that didn't work was 'Fright Night'.
The player is linked to the internet so the firmware is up to date.
Judging from the other comments it's only this particular movie.
BTW you sould get on to Lovefilm straight away, I notified them and they 'repaid' the credit without any problem.
I sent an email to the customer service team drawing their attention to this thread and here was the response.

I made sure to mention ALL the models that were experiencing the problem in my email, I can only assume they didn't check it and ignored it completely.
