Hi there,

I purchased a Vaio Z13 (VPCZ13V9E/X), I must admit that it's a GREAT machine. My friend bought a  new Asus model with similar specifications, and comparing those two- Vaio is better in everything, and the screen is simply beautiful. However thate is ONE THING - the cooling. My vaio is cooling all the time, I start the computer- and  it's blowing air from the first second, making a quiet buzz. The guys at Sony Poland told me that it's normal for vaios...

Don't get me wrong, but I paid 1850 GBP for my computer, and I hear buzzing! My friend bought an Asus (i5 / 4 GB RAM / 13,3") for 650 GBP and his computer is soundless - no cooling, and when cooling starts- he only hears airflow sound / no buzzing...

Please tell me if there will be a Bios update for my vaio, or is there a way to replace the cooling system with something which is COLLING AND NOT BUZZING?

Breg, Jack / Poland.

    Hi Loselmos,

I can only assume that the lack of response indicates that no one else on the forum has experienced the problem with this model.

Have you checked the CPU and Graphic chip temperature using software such as ‘Core Temp’?

There are plenty of free applications out there – try a Google...

I have the same issue - even when laptop is on "Stamina" mode and thermal strategy is set to "silent". It's really annoying, especially in quiet rooms.

Paying 2000 euros for a laptop prooducing that fan noise feels like being swindled. My girlfriend's laptop - the cheapest in the store - is simply silent, while mine is buzzing and chirping happily..

For proof, I have attached the sound it produces in stamina mode - first on "silent" thermal strategy, then "balanced", then "performance", then "silent" again (you'll hear beeps when changing thermal strategy).

The funniest part is that I had sent the laptop to Sony for repair (which meant I had to deal with one week of not having a laptop...) they said they changed the fan, and, guess what, it's just the same.

    This is simply embarrassing..
