Hi guys

Ive got a sony viao vgn-ar71s and has been fine now for some time but has suddenly developed a problem.

When i turn the laptop on all i get is one long beep and then two short beeps the screen doesn't show any bios and i get the power lights and some activity from the hdd.

Ive taken the Hdd out and that doesnt change the issue and also i have used the ram one by one in both holders so im sure both pieces of ram haven't gone but cannot be sure.

Im hoping someone has experience from what the beep's are, im thinking maybe motherboard or cpu/gpu.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Andy

    Hi Andy,

    I've got the same problem.

After reading some blogs, it should be the videocard who is over heated.

On youtube you find some movies how to heat the videocard and fix it, but it doesn't work for my Vaio VGN-AR71S.

So if Sony doesn't have a trade-in program, I need to find a new motherboard ;-(

If anyone has some more tips/tricks?

    Thanks,

    Michel
