If you attempt to email support regarding the internet player - there is no facility to do so. Very poor. I tried under the tv section. What has happened to Sony. Must I traipse around other forums t get help for a sony inadequacy? Stunned, Sony used to be so good.

I'm thinking of purchasing this device to replace my Virginmedia as I only ever watch catch up tv and online content, however I have been stung previously by the LG smart tv upgrader saying it supported flash, but after I bought it I found out it only supported up to version 10 and no updates would be made to include newer versions. Can you keep up to date with flash versions with Google TV? Can you play just about all video content online or are there restrictions? I know you can go to BBC Iplayer but I would also like to watch other flash based sites if possible?

Hello, rather disappointed with this so far. we are getting a message saying there is no signal and to check the hdmi input. This we have done, tried 2 different leads, turned if off for 2 mins etc. All to no avail. Tempted to take it back to the shop. We are using a Samsung UE40EH5000K tv which it didn't have listed but managed to get a code that appears to work. It's just rather disjointed and strange. Did Sony rush it to market and its a bit of a turkey?

Wake TV on HDMI not working with Google TV?

I recently got myself the NSZ-GS7 which I have connected between my Sky+ HD box and my tv. Before the Google TV installation I would turn on my tv then hit the sky power on and the tv would "wake" onto the correct HDMI port. Now I have to manually select the right HDMI port with the tv remote. This is really annoying.

Is there a way to set up the NSZ-GS7 so that the old behaviour returns?

while connecting my google tv box to my cable box and television i think i may have mixed up the hdmi connections,i think i have connected the input to the output and the output to the input,the result is now when i switch on the nsz-gs7 i can see the home page screen on the tv but it flickers badly and is unwatchable,is it repairable or have i damaged it beyond repair?

Years ago I worked for tech companies as a researcher and frequently found that the idea of a walled garden (a browsing space controlled/restricted by the owner of the browsing software, usually advertising their wares as 'the internet') was nothing less that soviet-style censorship. This may be fine in China and even Japan (to a degree) but in relatively democratic countries it is seen as an unacceptable barrier to consumer choice. BTW, I'm not trying to access porn or other dodgy content, merely UK Channel 4 online services. More progressive companies like Nokia abandoned this Stalinist/facist idea more than a decade ago. NSZ-GS7 -- is it really any good for catch-up TV?

Apologies in advance for this, my first post, but I'm struggling to get a clear picture (no pun intended) of what this box will actually do for me in terms of UK catch-up TV. I really don't want a Youview box, as I don't make use of a lot of catch-up TV services at present, but it seems that the NSZ-GS7 Sony Google TV box would be a good compromise between something like a Youview box and fully-fledged PC/Mac connected to my Sony TV.

I'm not (currently) interested in anything other than getting reliable access to ITVPlayer and 4OD, as my Sony TV can already handle iPlayer and Demand5, although having web-based access to all of them via the Google TV box would make life simpler.

From I can tell thus far it seems that:

- iPlayer may work if the /bigscreen option is added to the URL.

- ITVPlayer either works or doesn't.

- 4OD seems to work sometimes.

- Demand5 -- who knows, as next to no-one uses it!

- Firmware versions seem to play a part in whether or not the on-demand stuff works.

Although I can get a box from the likes of John Lewis and return it if it doesn't work, after the 28-day returns period I'd be stuck with it. From what I can make out people's experiences vary -- for some it just seems to work, for others it worked then stopped, and for a percentage of people it just never worked, period.

Is this box viable, or is it one to avoid for now? It's not the most expensive item out there for sure, but like most people I don't have cash to spare so any purchase has to be carefully considered. I certainly can't afford to waste money on something that doesn't work.

Some web Tvs (eg. http://www.eurosportplayer.cz) require Adobe Flash Player 11,2 but my device can work only with 10,2. Is there any solution to the opportunity to watch such a Tv? Or should I only wait till version of Android 4 would be upgraded on my device?

Hi,

I have nsz-gs7 sony with google tv on it and suddenly it wont start. I switch it on and I get the sony logo and then nothing. I cant do any factory reset as I cant get into the menu system. I also tried a reset using the connect button and switching it on but still nothing. Please can someone tell me whats wrong as I have googled loads and nothing. Thanks

NSZ-GS7 - Sky+hd via HDMI Question

Hi there, hope someone can help with this one.

I am connecting my Sky+hd box via HDMI to the NSZ-GS7, then obviously HDMI out from the GS7 to the TV.

I'm finding that occasionally I lose signal from the sky+hd box via the GS7 to the TV and the only way to resolve that is to perform a full shut down and restart of the GS7. The GS7 is normally on the Quick Start setting, so I have to switch that setting off, shut down and restart the GS7 and then switch the Quick Start back on.

I know the signal is coming from the Sky+hd box fine. Anyone had any similar experience?

SONY Bravia not storing channels since Digital Switchover

Hi my SONY Bravia KDL-40S5650 will not store channels since the digital switchover on 26th Oct 2012. Every time the set is switched on it has to be reprogrammed. I have downloaded the latest firmware but to no avail. The set was purchased 19th Dec 2009,(not 3 years just yet) it came with a certificate stating all Bravia models purchased from1st April - 31st Dec 2009 had a 3 year warranty.

SONY seem to be disputing this warranty with me.

Anyone got any ideas as to the problem and / or any ideas as to SONY attitude to the 3 Year warranty.

NSZ-GS7 Delay and flashing static screen when loading

Hi,

I've just purchased the sony set top box which I am really impressed with but I can't get it to work properly.

The only issue I have and don't seem to be able to resolve is that when I switch it on, or when I am using an app and then revert back to Live TV the screen goes black and then I get a flashing static screen for about 30 - 60 seconds before it loads up (like you used to get on old terrestrial tv's when you had no signal). Likewise when I'm watching live TV and load up either the 'picture within a picture' feature or an app it goes through the same problem.

Just got the nsz-gs7 and it seems to be working fine with my sky hd box (Amstrad DRX890) but noticed that when i shut down my sony box, the sky hd box remains on. Is it supposed to be like this or is it somehow possible to put the sky box into standby when the sony box is also put into standby?

I have just installed a NSz-gs7 and two streaming movie services I use (Lovefilm and blink box) won't work as they require Microsoft silverlight. Is there either an app, upgrade or alternative I can use?
