It is a pity that the 923 did not have that start. I really hope that Sony gets its act together and focus in picture quality. I am more than happy to trade a few feats for excellent picture quality.

very poor customer support

One of the good things of coming to this forum is that we are not alone. I have had similar customer UNsupport and fed up with Sony and pursuing my money back from my credit card. Sony has lost the premium completely.

I have posted the previous comment four times in this thread https://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/message/765117#765117 . They have been deleting it. I do not know why because it is not offensive, incite violence or similar. I am just saying that my personal experience with Sony UNsupport has been as tragic as the one who originally posted there. If Sony does not want angry customers then it should considerably improve their customer service and really make it customer orientated. Needless to say about the quality of their products.

Catmambo you might have been affected by cancer but you are not the only one. I have been affected by cancer as well and I made the simile because all the problems that one has to face to sort problems with sony support are extremely tiring and repetitive. Sony should be more customer orientated and not treating customer like criminals.

Have you tried?

Right click in computer, then click on manage and enter password. Then go to Disk Management and delete the partitions on your Freecom, then create an new simple partition. That should solve it.

If it does not work then search for a program that can manage partitions like PartitionMagic there are some free ones as well. Another solution will be to use a computer using Linux. There are some live CD from opensuse, centos, fedora which are able to boot Linux from a CD, you will need to burn the CD, and manipulate the disk. Whichever method you use you need to be really careful that you delete the partition from your Freecom and not the disk that has the Operating System.

Hopefully this will help

You are able to browse whichever site wish. Once you are in the browser which by default opens in the Sony website, no surprise here, it would be stupid otherwise. You could use the remote options button to enter a new url or web address, add bookmarks and similar stuff that you do with an ordinary browsers. You could use the remote keyboard application in your Vaio to entre text in the browser. It will allow you to use the keyboard of your Vaio for entering the text in the TV browser. You could also download the smart phone app to enter text as well. If none of this is available to you the remote can do it but it is more inconvenient. There are limitations with this browser; it does not support some technologies so some websites will not work. If you want to see different TV channels then you should use your TV not your browser.

This TV does not support any video format. That is what the manual says. The USB only support jpeg pictures in FAT file system. A similar analogy is when you buy a computer that is able to read a DVD but not write to it. There many that can write to a DVD but the one that you bought cannot. There is nothing wrong with the TV.

If you want to play videos from a USB drive then you need a different TV that specifies that it is able to do it. You also need to check which video format is able to play. The fact that it can play some video files does not mean that it will play all videos.

A cheaper solution is to buy a media player which has a wide range of formats that can play. You could see an example of a media player at this website http://www.ebuyer.com/274064-cyclone-micro-2-mkv-player-cyclone-micro-2-player . This can be connected to the TV via HDMI.

I hope that this will help

To find a solution to that will be to find a program that can convert from the codec that does not work to one of the supported formats.

Hope this help.

If you bought it from a Sony Centre with five year warranty Sony will honour that as well. It is important that you keep the paperwork. I am sorry but I have no knowledge of any Sony Centre in Eire .

How do you get your internet? How is your router connected to your internet provider device? The best way to test the wireless adapter is what I suggested before; get the router on top of the TV so that you can assert that the distance is not a problem. I am assuming that the adapter is integrated and you will have no access to it whatsoever. You could also borrow a friend’s router and try it. That will prove your case even further.

I do not know if Eire is the same as England, but you can check if the Credit Card is also liable to solve the problem. You might be able to get your money back and return the TV. The HX823 is a good TV. It might be just a faulty wireless adapter. If you push hard enough Sony, the administrator or the Credit Card will solve the problem.

Cheers.

If your TV is no more than 10 feet away the distance should not be a problem. That is less than the max distance for Bluetooth. There is a simple way to prove if the distance is to blame.

You said that when using the cable it worked 100% perfectly. Do you mean the network or the DLNA client of the TV? If the DLNA works well with the cable then it will be safe to assume that the client has no problem. The problem might be in the wireless adapter of the TV.

The simple way to prove that the distance is not the problem is based by assuming that your router is connected to a modem of some sort. I imagined that you got a long Ethernet cable and connected the TV to the router. So my suggestion is that you get the router very close to the TV and connect the router to the modem with the long Ethernet cable. Set the wireless on the TV and try it. If the problems persist then the distance is not to blame. It will also prove that there might be some problem with the wireless adapter of the TV and you might ask Sony to repair the wireless adapter since the TV is under warranty.

Another solution could be using power line Ethernet adapters. Check this link for a picture http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tp-link-tl-pa211kit-200mbps-mini-powerline-ethernet-adapter-kit-twin-pack-10991859-pdt.html. This will mean investing more money but that could solve your problem.

I hope this will help.

There is no way you will be able to see two channels with a single digital tuner. If you have PIP activated in input A it create two frames where it will show input A and input B. With the left and right arrow in your remote you can select which of the two frames is the one active. In the active frame you need to use the select input button to see which other input are available to PIP.

Regarding subtitles, I think that subtitles are not supported whilst playing from USB but I am not sure. I think I read this in one of the posts. I never use that feature.

I have a HX923 and it does not allow me to change the channel when recording a program.

When using PIP you can use the input button to see which input are available in that frame and if you change to the other frame then you will also need to use input button to see what inputs are available. PIP is usually for watching two different sources at the same time, PC and TV, Video Input and TV. Bear in mind that some inputs might not have this feature available. For instance, the PC input might not allow you to use PIP. The only way that you might be able to see two TV channels is if your TV has two tuners and they implement PIP for both tuners. I do not think that there is such a TV in the UK at the moment.

I am paying for a premium brand. I am paying extra for something that it is not just a tangible product. I did not buy an Alba tele. I could have bought a very similar TV in specifications from a competitor which I decided against for the weight that the Sony names carries. In my plane case is not that much different, I expect to get the service, going from A to B but I also expect to get tangible things like a more comfortable seat, more space, better selection of food and drinks among other things.

We all know that opening electronic devices is not common practice. I would love to look inside my TV but that is a no go area. I will understand that the odd TV might be faulty but it shouldn’t, especially in Premium Flagship TV’s. The whole idea of paying extra is that one would get extra high quality components. I know that Sony will not reveal, nor I will ask, how many TV’s are having problems but it seems that is not just the odd one.

I do see the logic in what you say, about a single small component failing. However it used to be the case that you could not find a faulty Sony TV. I bought the 65HX923 and since the very beginning it has a dark line in the very centre of the screen and two lines slightly to right that create a whiter band. I call Sony Support who denied any knowledge of any problems and told me that my TV is within specification. Eventually they said that the panel needs replacement. I was told it that it should be replaced since panels are not something that they replace but have not seen any solution yet.

This is hardly any different and the very reason you have a warranty in place....No great shakes fella!

It is like comparing pairs with apples. I can perfectly see naskhan’s point of view. We are talking about a flagship TV from a premium brand. If you buy a first class ticket in a plane and your seat is not comfortable would you be happy just to take an extra pillow? I am sure you would demand a new premium seat that you paid for.

Naskhan check this thread https://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/message/742006

Are you sure that the board is faulty?

Cannot play videos from my sony ipod dock through my Iphone onto my bravia TV

Hi Lee,

I am sure you TV has video input, HDMI, SCART, composite, component. Just check if there is a converter from the connection in the dock to one of these ones. This cable will be for using your iphone as the video player if it has video output. If you use you blu-ray as the media player the TV should be in the input of the Blu-Ray player and you need to check that the video is in a format that is supported by the BR player.

For what you describe might be that the BR player is able to read the audio but not the video. In other words the BR has the audio codec but not the video.

Hope this help
