What laptop do you have?

Where are you seeing this error? (for example is it inside a box called Microsoft.net Framework?)

Is it just today that you receive that message or has it been happening over a period of days?

If its only happened today then its quite possible that maintenance is the cause.

(Most of us are volunteers and don't work for Sony, so I don't know any actual details of planned maintenance)

If you pm me the link or details of the driver I'll have a go and see what happens

Yes - it would be noticeable (especially if its a laptop) if someone has tried to disassemble then reassemble it.

(Look at the screws and the casing)

You said there was a "desktop failure. "Can you elaborate a little on that?

(Was the pc performing any particular function at the time e.g. browsing the net or windows update? Was it a blue screen or any lines across the display? Did your flatmate witness it?)

Again, we need a bit more info if possible.

Hi there, is it the Game Civ 2 you are trying to install?

I don't think you can install Civ 2 Classic on a Windows 7 OS.

Which version of Windows 7 do you have? If you have indows 7 Professional or higher you can try using

Windows Virtual PC and running the game in XP mode.

If not then you could try using other virtualization software such as VMware.

(I don't have the game though so can't guarantee it will work)

I suppose it depends on how you define 'successful' - whether you mean the company with the most money, sales, products, profits etc.

It would hurt my brain to try and square the two companies up but as Vaios come installed with a Microsoft Operating System I'm guessing Mr Gates empire is still going strong

Which laptop do you have?

There could be a couple of things that are causing it but maybe first double-check your settings for when the display is set to turn itself off?

Click "Start"

Click "control Panel"

Click "System and Security"

Click "Power Options"

On the left check the setting for "Choose when to turn off display"

Also check if you are set to a 'balanced' or 'power saver' in "Power Options"

Again it may be something more troublesome, but its worth checking first

Hi there

Its probable that your E474 doesn't have that option. (I have the same help guide as you but a different model and mine doesn't do it either)

Although the guide hints you can do it, once you click the details of how to it shows that only voice recordngs can be deleted using the option button method.

You can delete songs or files by using the software that you transferred them with, or using windows explorer to click into your connected walkman and find the folders or files you want to delete.

I suppose it depends what you want them for, for example some dvd players may support one type or the other, or more modern ones can support both. Its worth double checking what discs your hardware can play.

For data storage etc i would say that the +RW may be slightly better as it offers faster writing, better internal linking and support for drag-and-drop desktop files. (Although if storing data perhaps you don't need the RW discs and could go for the - or + R?)

Can I ask if you have tried removing the battery for a few minutes?

If that doesn't help have you checked your lens? Is it a Sony lens?

(Some problems have been reported on the net with minolta lenses)

Check it still fits correctly.

Worst case it could be shutter damage which would mean returning it for a repair.

If the vents / fans are clean then it could be a couple of other things.

Are you able to get into safe mode?

If so can you run a virus scan?
