USB 3.0 via Express Card on Vaio VGN-AW11Z ?

Dear forum members,

I bought a LogiLink USB3.0 2-port Express Card last weekend and I assume I installed its drivers properly because that's the message I got upon finishing that procedure.

http://www.logilink.org/showproduct/PC0055.htm

I checked on LogiLink's website; there are no updates for the drivers.

http://www.logilink.org/content/support/download.htm

When I try to connect my - equally new - Iomega eGo 2T USB3.0 desktop hard drive to the Vaio (always using the power suply provided by Iomega), it stops almost instantly.

http://go.iomega.com/en/products/external-hard-drive-desktop/ego-desktop-series/ego-gray-usb30/?partner=4740#overviewItem_tab

Connecting the hard drive before or after starting up the Vaio makes no difference : all activity ceases immediately, then the laptop shuts down.

Whether I use the Express Card's additional power cable (through the other USB 2.0 ports) or not, the result is the same.

When I use the Iomega through one of the built-in USB 2.0 ports it works fine (I sent 300 Gb of video material back and forth without any problems).

Iomega mentions start-up problems in its documentation. They advise checking with [Sony] for BIOS updates, but I can only find one (pertaining to Intel's VT).

I have never changed anything to any BIOS setting, but I checked them anyway. The Intel Virtualization Tech option is switched off (but I assume that would be irrelevant), the booting option through external devices is also switched off (but the internal optical drive and the internal hard disk take precedence anyway).

Has anyone encountered similar problems ?

Can anyone think of any solutions, please ?
