It is a Netflix and partner issue, but their way to solve the problem was to make it a Sony problem as well. When Netflix entered the UK market at the beginning of last year, the studios basically told them to increase their security for their films and programs. The way they did this was to use a new DRM system. This increased DRM needs more processing power to decode and the pre-2012 models unfortunatley couldn't cope with it properly. At the end of the day, these are TV's not power horse PC's. They are designed to do a limited number of things well and if something radical happens, they can't cope too well with the changes. Smart TV's are still fairly new technology and this is one of those things that shows some of the problems that occur.

As for why it is good enough for the US and not the UK, that is a question that you would have to ask Netflix. It is the choice that they made and that we, in the UK, all have to live with.

Whilst Quinnicus is right, the simple answer to your question is, you can't. ITV Player is not available on Sony TV's.

Hi, I am a bit confused by your post. Are you still in the UK? If you are, then you aren't getting analogue channels because there aren't any. We are all on Digital now. Do you have an aerial cable plugged into the TV? Is it an external aerial or internal? Do you have any other devices / TV's that can receive channels OK?

Hi, the reason this message normally appears is if the device is trying to display at a resolution that the TV cannot cope with. Looking at the specs, it seems that the only resolution the TV does not display is 1080p. Is it possible that this is the default resolution that your media player is trying to display at? Can you reconnect it to one of the other tv's that did work and go into the settings of the media player and drop it down to 1080i at least?

Netflix UK has not and will not be available on that TV. You may have been accessing a different country, such as the US version via a VPN or with altered settings.

Hi, I am not 100% certain, but I think this is only available in the US and Canada. I have exactly the same TV and the app does not appear in the list on my TV.

Hi, this won't be possible. Film contracts are negotiated by country, so you won't be able to watch a UK available film in a different country.

Hi, sorry but this TV does not have access to any internet features at all. It doesn't even seem to be able to play videos over a network, so the only reason I can think of that it would have an Ethernet connection is for automatic updates to the TV.

Hi, this tv cannot naturally receive HD channels. You would have to buy Sky, a freeview HD or some other kind of receiver to get HD channels

If you have read this thread, you will know that it is NOT tehnically possible. The pre 2012 devices do not have the processing power to decode the new DRM that Netflix decided to use.

It depends upon which TV you have. The 2012 model TV's should be able to get Netflix, the older models are not capable of getting it due to the increased processing power required of the new DRM Catmambo mentioned above.

Pressing 2 twice quickly really should work.

Another way is to press the Guide button on the remote and to use the arrow buttons and the centre button to select a channel to watch.

Hi, a HDMI cable is your best bet. This will give a better picture quality on the TV. It should be as easy as connecting the cable into the laptop and then the TV. Change the TV to the right input and you should have the picture with no problems. I always have a bit of an issue with the sound, so you might have to play with your laptop sound settings to get it to output to the TV.

Hi, I believe this is, technically, very difficult to do. I am not aware of any TV manufacturer that currently allows you to record the Internet streams. I very much doubt this feature will become available on your TV.

I can't give a definitive answer on this, but I can give some background:

First, it has only just launched, so IF it is coming to the 2011 model TVs, it will take some time before the app is ready.

In the UK, Netflix used a new kind of security for their service which would not work on these TVs. I don't know if they have done the same in Denmark (I searched but could not find any info). To be honest though, my assumption would be they would on a new service like Denmark. If this is the case, Netflix will not be on your TV. The US use an older version which works fine on these TVs.

So, you are going to need an official answer from a Sony rep, but I hope that will help clarify their answer.

Hi, you can't change the homepage, but you can add a bookmark, which will save you having to retype the address each time.

When you are on the webpage you want to save, select the Options button on the remote and then scroll down to Add Bookmark.

When you want to load the page again, press the Options button on the remote and select Bookmarks near the top. You can then select the one you want.

Not ideal, but might save you some time.
