I'd go with option 2, (Connect my TV to a computer using an HDMI cable.)

If you can spare a few pounds, get a dedicated tv computer and turn it into a Media center.

Then i'd install XBMC, which is the absolutely best mediaplayer on the market (freeware)

Hi all,

If you could ONLY choose one accessory to your Bravia Tv, what would it be ?

1. Keyboard

2. Webcam

There is a smartphone app for Android or IPhone or a piece of PC software which you can download from the Sony support page for your TV, which allows you to use your laptop keyboard wirelessly.

Both arguably better than a wired USB solution..

The Android & IPhone solution is nice, but basically the same as the remote.

You tend to keep e-mail conversations short, as the typing on these small displays is cumbersome.

The PC software solution ain't that great either.

If a PC is connected to your Bravia, why use the rather slow/clunky tv browser ?

The whole idea of having internet in the tv is that you dont need a computer, or the need
to start it up, just to reply to your e-mails if you need to type alot.

I assume the browser feature is the one used most on Bravia, or at least it is for me.
Skype and all the other stuff isn't something that you use as often as your browser.
Therefore it's strange that Sony put so much effort on the Webcam, instead of a
wired/wireless keyboard.

The browser is the engine in any internet activity, and with only a remote as a
keyboard, it's like driving a car with only one gear.
It can be done, but it's slow.
It's really a misfortune that Sony left the keyboard out...

So, what are your thoughts?

No, at least not to my knowledge.

Preferably should the tv accept any make and model, and not be locked to

"Sony only variant", as with the skype webcam.

If a mouse also could be used, that would be another +

Alarm Widget Suggestion

Hi all,

I noticed the "Alarm" widget doesn't have an audible noise !?

Kinda defeats the purpose of having an alarm clock, if all it does is change color from green to red

when the alarm goes on...

A suggestion would be to obviously give it an alarm tone of some sort, alternatively raising the volume

to a preset level (Like the wakeup timer)

Thanks for having me.

And i have to say, this forum seems to have genuine support by first glance.

Or at least you seem to care, and that says a lot.

I just got rid of a Philips tv (with a buy back guarantee) that i asked for

support in the Philips support forum.

A worse community than theirs is hard to find.

Every second post there is from frustrated users that aren't getting any help at all.

(Philips firmware is a joke)

A really fresh breeze coming here.

I have already done as you suggested, and it works fine, however, if you don't want

"non-favourite" channels when using the Channel up&down button,

my remedy is the only one that works.

I don't see it as a big problem to delete channels that you can't or wont watch.

Once setup, you are good to go until you need a new channel.

(And this is not something you do every day)

Then you can always do that manual search, so you don't need to re-install

all the channels again.

I have this tv:

KDL-46EX723

I use a Swedish menu system.

I wonder, how do i type foreign characters in the browser with the remote ?

(These are the 3 i need as i'm Swedish å ä ö,Å Ä Ö)

Hi all,

I have the same remote (without a heart), and this is how i do:

Go here:

Home>Digital-setup>Digital programme sorting

Now choose the channel/channels you don't want

And click Option>Delete

Voi'la problem solved.

Really neat with the Sony tv is that you don't have to re-install all the channels,

if you want a single, or a few channels back afterwards.

In the setup menu you can do a manual search for single channels.

It is good though, if you know which channel/frequency they are located at before searching
