Sony vaio Blue and Blackscreen

Well my laptop died, everything is now officially black same as Club Vaio seems to be dead.... Not a single response in 9 days

I cannot deny I enjoyed my laptop a lot. But Sony these days is going towards a horrible direction. I certainly hope they go back to their roots of their designs.

- "Less is more"

- "Always the latest stuff on it"

- "Incredable screen quility"

Right now I am in the market for a new laptop. Money is is not a problem at all, but Sony does not offer anything in the range I am looking for. Not even in signature collection which I was considering. Their state of the art 3D laptop is the most ugly and FAT design I have seen of Sony ever and I think they should be ashamed of themselves to bring such a product on the market.

I have always recommeded Sony Vaio Laptops to people. Could practically be a retailer, but these days I would be ashamed to recommend anybody one unless they want some low budget with old specs computer or just something dead ugly.

Yeah I know it looks easy for me to complain. Or you might think I might be frustrated because my laptop broke. But this is certainly not the case. I knew my laptop was dying, I have seen and gotten all the possible signs and I was long ahead preparing for a new laptop. So what am I looking for then?

- 15.4 and up screensize (15.6 perfect size for movies and video streams and also portable). NO 17 inch too freeking big

- Best screen quality ever with high ass resolution.

- LATEST intel processor

- Bare minimum 1GB videocard (hope not Nvidea since my bad experiance with last laptop)

- Lots of memory. Min 6GB

- USB3 ports (this is where apple lost me)

- not a boring black design again! Why should E-series only get a colour. Btw I prefer white, like a virgin.

- backlight keyboard

- Hoping for limited signature collection

- As thin and light as possile. To give you an impression Sony 3d laptop is like a pork compared to my old FE31M model.

- Kill the dammed bloathware you put on my upcoming laptop

- TIP: never understood why sony cannot build laptops with disc grive that you push in instad of taking a tray out. It's stupid. Sony should follow example of Dell and Apple in this. Quite impossible to open disc driver when the laptop is on your lap without damaging disc. Please no more MatSHITa. First thing that died on me.

Seems Sony is pushing and forcing me to an apple product which is the only product near or equal to Sony quality. Sony is lucky Dell is also Ugly and has ugly screen angle and quality. And why the heck are signature collection worse then the actual product being sold. Signature collection should be unique and great specs not more of the boring same with only a different colour and lesser CPU's. Why can apple, dell, asus and acer put latest cpu in their laptops but Sony not?

Sony wth is wrong with you! Feels like a knife going trough my chest.

A VERY dissapointed customer

I get vertical blue stripes and then $$$ resulting in blue screen.

Save mode works so I tried

- Removing videocard driver completly and reboot

- Removing videocard driver completly and reinstalling sony driver again

- Removing videocard driver completly and reinstall latest driver

- Removing videocard driver completly and reinstall microsoft windows updat driver

- Reinstalling backup of intire system

- Reinstalling windows completly

All resulted sometimes works and then other times not. When it worked it only worked for the time being and then in the middle of watching a movie or browsing my screen goes black and upon reboot I get the vertical stripes again.

Tried more stuff too no avail but not important enough to mention. In the screenshots you can see what I see. I assume my build in video card Nvidea Geforce Go 7600 is broken or heats up too much. Since replacing my entire motherboard is at the moment no option for me.

Have to say I am disappointed. This month I was going to buy a new laptop and I was flipping between Sony and Apple. Looking at my laptop now I am a bit disappointed in durability. I have to say though that sony makes the best screens which was one of the main reasons why I bought a Sony.

Message was edited by: Carelino

Message was edited by: Carelino

My burner does not want to burn dvd's anymore. Everytime I try to burn something I get power calibration error. It can read but not burn. Tried different brands - and +, yet to no prevail.

Perhaps it has been mentioned before. But I can't seem to search the threads. That is the utility that is suppose to turn it on or off. I don't remember well but I believe there was a thread about this.

Since there is no search available I wont be able to find it back. You got nothing to loose so try reinstalling The Wireless Switch Setting Utility.

Since your laptop is different it is hard for me to help you. I believe your laptop does not have it. I do see in your original installed files online that there is a:

LINK
Original Utilities Package
VAIO Smart Network
Wireless LAN Driver Atheros
Wireless LAN Driver Intel

You could try reinstalling them.

Yesterday I bought a Sony Cybershot T-500 camera. Allong with it I also bought a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 8GB Mark 2.

Of course I would like to transfer the files from the stick directly to my computer using the build in Memory Stick Pro Duo slot (in right front of laptop).

It seems though that the slot does not accept higher then 4GB (I think). It keeps wanting to format the card and when I format it I can only format it up too 3.58 while it's a 8GB on top of that if I format the card my Sony Camera can't read stick anymore. Right now it cannot read/write the card until I format it on the laptop.

Anyway the question is, is there an update or something so it will work.

Current driver is:
Driver provider: Microsoft
Driver date: 21-06-2006
Driver version: 6.0.6001.18000

I know I have a secondary slot for SD and Also memory stick to put in the side but I prefer not using that one (haven't tested it yet either).

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can do to fix it is to replace the entire keyboard. I have experience opening my laptop, did it a couple of times to clean out the dust (lot's of it).

I know there are on ebay a lot of people selling the keyboard but I was wondering if there is any other option?

I recently replaced my Fujitsu MHV2160BT (4200) SATA 160GB in my laptop for a WD3200BEKT (7200RPM). So now im looking for a external hdd casing for the Fujitsu MHV2160BT.

You might think its easy BUT Fujitsu has been so smart to make the dimensions HightxWidthXDepth in MM= 12,5x70x100 . Im afraid its impossible to find a casing that fits Fujitsu MHV2160BT. Yet i'm hoping there is and maybe somebody give me a couple of suggestions.

The issue is 12,5 mm Height normally it would be 9 or 9.5 mm.

I know about connector and docking stations (prob wont fit either the docking stations). But if I use that it NOT really portable anymore...

Some help/suggestions would be appreciated. I bet I'm not the only guy with a FujitSHITsu having the same problem. I shure hope there is 1 it will fit in.

It seems also other brands besides sony has issues with this clicking sound. The problem seems to be the same brand of harddisk.

Just to let anybody know since I have sent my Laptop to Sony I never heard a clicking sound again. Then when bought new laptop of Sony FE31M (old one was stolen FE11S) which had no clicking sound thank god.

Now buying new harddisk Western Digital Scorpio Black 320GB 7200RPM LINK . Finally getting RID of that very annoying slow 160GB 4200RPM FuijSHITsu (although it always worked perfectly without ANY issues the previous one clicked). From NOW on I will only buy Wester Digital or Seagate. Also when a laptop comes with diffrent brand I will sell it and buy the one I want.

I hope post helped out a lot of people....

Good lucky everybody

Succes verder

I recently had to take my vaio appart because it became very hot. It could say it was not a laptop anymore, bc I would burn my lap.

When I opened it if was completely filled with dust. In one of the holes in the ventilator there was a BIG peace of collected dust. After cleaning all dust all over the place my laptop never heated op anymore even with heavy duty. Just like when I bought my laptop.

Yet you can use software to check what heats op, yet the only real way to find out is taking your vaio appart. Ofcourse it pretty scary to do such a thing and you need to be VERY carefull. You take a risk of braking your laptop yet if your carfull not. But look at the bright side, right now you can't do anything with your hot laptop .

Maybe one of the people here can give you a guide how to open it up for your model

Good luck.
