A 3rd party review of the Sony PRS 350 eBook Reader

WARNING: The Reader device should never be ejected under the following conditions or permanent damage to the Reader device may occur:

 

NOTES:

  • A      data transfer is in progress
  • Your      computer is accessing the Reader device or compatible memory card inserted      in the Reader device.
  • A      file in the Reader device or a compatible memory card in the Reader device      is open.

 

If you are not transferring any data and would like to disconnect your Reader device, click the eject button in the Reader (eBook) Library software. The message on your Reader device will now be USB connected and you can safely remove the connection or continue to charge.

 

NOTE: If you have already closed the Reader Library software, you can use the Safely Remove Hardware feature of the Windows® operating system to disconnect your Reader device from the computer.

NOTE: A different procedure is available for redownloading eBooks through the Reader Store on the Reader Daily Edition digital book (PRS-900).


Follow the appropriate procedure:

 

Redownload eBooks:

  1. Open the Reader Library Software.
  2. In the Reader Library window, click the eBook Store link in the left pane.
  3. Log in to your eBook Store account.
  4. On the Reader Store main page, click My Account .
  5. On the Account Overview page, under the My Library , click View and/or Download purchased ebooks
  6. On the My Purchased Content page, you will see a list of all titles that you have purchased. Click to select the book that you want to download and then click on Download Now. The book will be downloaded to your library.

 

Redownload Periodicals (Newspapers and Magazines):

  1. Open the Reader Library Software.
  2. In the Reader Library window, click the eBook Store link in the left pane.
  3. Log in to your eBook Store account.
  4. On the eBook Store main page, click My Account .
  5. On the Account Overview page, under the My Library , click View and/or Download purchased Periodicals
  6. On the My Purchased Content page, you will see a list of all periodicals that you have purchased. Locate the periodical you wish to download and then click the See Issue List button.
  7. From the individual issue list, locate the issue you wish to download and then click the Download Now button. The periodical will be downloaded to your library.

The Reader Digital Book supports the following file formats:

 

  • Unsecured Text: Adobe® PDF, Adobe Digital Editions 1.5 or      later, TXT, RTF, EPUB, BBeB (.lrf or .lrx file extension, Non-DRM)      Microsoft® Word (Conversion to the Reader-requires Word to be installed on      your PC)

 

 

NOTE: If Microsoft®Word is installed on your computer, Word files will be automatically converted to RTF files by Reader Library during transfer to your Reader Digital Book or compatible memory card.


  • DRM Text: EPUB (Adobe DRM-protected content),PDF (Adobe      DRM protected)

 

 

NOTE: Adobe Digital Editions 1.5 or later and Adobe DRM-protected content requires the installation of the most current version of the eBook Library software which is available through the software and drivers link on this page.


 

  • Unsecured Audio: MP3 (Non encrypted) and AAC7 (Non encrypted)
  • Image: JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP

 

 

 

NOTE: The Reader Daily Edition does not support Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected BBeB books. Books purchased from the Reader store prior to the format change can be re-download in the EPUB format for use with the Reader Daily Edition
