How to connect your BRAVIA® to the Internet

There are several ways to connect your BRAVIA® TV to the internet and start using Sony's Internet Video Link (BIVL) Service depending on the model and the equipment that you have. Either way connection to the service is easy:

Ethernet Cable

You can connect your BRAVIA® to the internet by using a standard Ethernet cable to connect the BRAVIA® to your nearby router. Simply plug the cable into the Ethernet socket on the left side of the TV into the socket labelled LAN for connection.

The next step is to simply press the 'HOME' button on your remote and navigate to the Settings section on the screen and select Network Connections / Wired / Automatic and it will setup your BRAVIA® to your internet network.

At the end of Setup use the TEST CONNECTION option which is a quick test to ensure that the BRAVIA® is fully connected to the router with the correct IP address.

The BRAVIA is now able to stream the BRAVIA® Internet Video Link service (BIVL).

HomePlug

This option uses the house's electricity circuit to transmit the internet to any power socket in the house.

The HomePlug, sometimes called a Powerline, turns your existing mains electrical system into a safe & secure data and multimedia network. There are a variety of devices available from all good high-street and online retailers.

All you need to do is use two HomePlug adapters and plug one next to the router and connect it with an Ethernet cable. Once this is done plug the second one next to your BRAVIA® and connect that with Ethernet cable/socket.

This is ideal if your new BRAVIA® is some distance from your router or if you have problems with the Wifi strength in your home.

Lastly, again simply select 'HOME' and navigate to the Settings section on the screen and select Network Connections / Wired / Automatic and it will setup the TV to the network for you.

The next step is easy, at the end of Setup use the TEST CONNECTION option again to check that the BRAVIA® is fully connected with all the correct boxes ticked. The BRAVIA® is now able to stream the BIVL service.

Wireless Integrated

The LX and NX BRAVIA® models already come with Wifi built in making connection the internet easy.

Simply select Network Connections / Wireless / TV and your BRAVIA® will scan for Wifi networks for you. Select your Wifi network and then enter the encryption password (if necessary). Test the internet connection following the process outlined above and enjoy fully internet enabled BIVL BRAVIA®.

Official wireless adaptor from Sony

The EX, NX and HX BRAVIA® series are all Wireless Ready and are compatible with the UWA-BR100 USB Wireless LAN adaptor.

Moreover, due to the versatility of the Wireless LAN adaptor both the S470 and S370 series Blu-Ray players can also use the wireless adaptor.

The result is perfect wireless internet access for your Wifi Ready TV or compatible Blu-Ray player.

Plug the adaptor into one of the USB sockets on the BRAVIA®, go to Network Settings / Wireless / Search for wireless network as above.

How to setup your BRAVIA® Internet Video Link (BIVL) service

Once the BRAVIA® or Blu-ray player has been connected to the internet, navigate the screen to the Music and Video icons and select "Refresh Internet Content" – simply select this and the BRAVIA® will access the internet and then a list of internet TV channels will appear on the Xross Media Bar, inclduing BBC iPlayer. Viewing pleasure is assured.

* If you cannot see "Refresh Internet Content" icon under music or movies in the XMB, then navigate to Settings / Network / Refresh Internet Content.
