Tom Ang

Tom is a photographer, best-selling author, and broadcaster. A specialist in travel and digital photography, he is the author of 20 books on photography and video including the best-selling Digital Photographer’s Handbook published in twenty languages, Digital Photography Masterclass (Winner of Library Journal’s ‘Best How-to Book of 2008 and Shutterbug’s ‘Créme de la Créme’ of Top Digital Imaging Books of 2008), Fundamentals of Photography, How to Photograph Absolutely Everything, Tao of Photography, Advanced Digital Photography, Picture Editing, Digital Video Handbook.

He presented two ground-breaking six-part series ‘A Digital Picture of Britain’ and ‘Britain in Pictures’ for BBC. He won the Thomas Cook award for best Illustrated Travel Book for his book on the Marco Polo Expedition and has worked as magazine editor, picture editor. He was senior lecturer in photographic practice at the University of Westminster for 12 years. He led a Know How Fund project that reformed the journalism curriculum for a university in Kyrgyzstan. He was chair of the Arts Council England organization for Chinese Arts in Britain. His current interests include documentary film-making, high-definition video, fine-art photography and fiction.

He is a founder of iDigitalPhoto, contributes to Aperture Users Network and is a founding member of the World Photographic Academy. He was born in Singapore and now divides his time between UK and New Zealand. His home site is at tomang.com.
