Sony registers with The Energy Savings Trust

As part of its commitment to help improve the environment and its drive to manufacture products that are energy efficient, Sony is registered with The Energy Savings Trust (The EST). The EST was established by the UK government in 1993 following the Rio de Janeiro “Earth Summit” in 1992.

The EST is a non-profit organisation funded both by government and the private sector and is one of the UKs leading organisations set up to address the damaging effects of climate change.

The aim of The EST is to cut emissions of carbon dioxide by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy.

Involved in a wide range of activities

The Energy Savings Trust is involved in a wide range of activities, including independent analysis of energy efficiency and renewable technologies, developing and managing energy programmes on behalf of the UK Government.

The EST provides independent information on the benefits of sustainable energy products and developing effective partnerships with businesses and organisations throughout the UK and Europe.

Energy Savings Recommended logo

All current model Sony TVs such as the KDL-40W4000 pictured above meet power consumption requirements laid down by The Energy Savings Trust.

As recognition of it’s achievement, Sony is now able to use the “Energy Savings Recommended” logo.

Sony is continuing to work with The EST to register other products and these will carry the ESR logo and appear on the EST website when accreditation is complete.
