Understanding the technical bit

Just as the quality of components in your TV, games console, DVD or BD player makes a difference to audio and image quality, so too can your cables.

Cables follow the same engineering and design principles as the equipment itself.

Many factors go into this, including the purity of the copper strands used in the cable, and the type, design and construction quality of the connector.

Even its outer jacket makes a difference. The right material can reduce interference from other electrical sources and make a huge impact on the quality of sound that plays through it.

Simply, the best components get the best results.

Our premium AV cables benefit from all of the above. With 99.996% oxygen free copper purity and 24k gold plated connectors, they give excellent signal transmission.

And because gold is inert at room temperature, they also have high durability and won’t corrode.

Choosing the right cables

It’s not as complicated as you think

It’s all about getting the right cable for your system to get the right performance out of it.

And there’s a good rule of thumb to remember when choosing AV cables for your home entertainment system.

Experts say that spending at least 15 per cent of your overall budget should get you the right ones. That is, cables that actually make a difference to what you see and hear from your level of set up.

First, look for cables with oxygen free copper (OFC) . Over time, non-OFC cables will oxidise and increase their resistance to electrical currents. This means that not all of the signal going in at one end will make it out of the other. Audio and image quality can suffer as a result.

Good quality cables also have screening. This is a foil or braid wrap around the inside core of the cable. It shields them from sensitive signals, like those transmitted from nearby power cables, to avoid any interference.

Gold plated connectors are also an advantage, preventing corrosion between cable and socket as well as giving optimal signal transfer.

Get the most out of your home theatre

Choosing cables might not seem as important as your investment in the home theatre system itself.

But as your system evolves and grows, being able to future proof it now with cables that stand the test of time will save you time and money in the long run. As well as unleashing the true potential of your equipment from the moment you plug it in.

With all the information at hand, you can make better cabling choices.

Don’t just take our word for it though. Why not let your eyes and ears be the judge, and see the difference for yourself.

The exceptional picture and sound quality will speak for itself.
